Default Come to the NOVA Open! (Aug 30 - Sep 2)

HelloWarmachine & Hordes Fans! I want YOU to come to the NOVA Open!!

    When:
The NoVa Open isless than 2 months away!
    August30th through September 2nd

    Where:
It's an entire weekend of gaming right in Crystal City, just across theriver from Washington DC!

    Hyatt Regency, Crystal City
    2799 Jefferson Davis Highway,
    Arlington, Virginia, USA 22202
    NOVA Reservations: +1 888 421 1442
    Tel: +1 703 4181234 Fax: +1 703 418 1289

Hotel rooms are just $85 a night, (and half that if you bring a friend) and there's a shuttle to the metro for anyone who wants to go see the city. There's also a cool meal plan available, so you don't have to leave the hotel and fight the Crystal City folks for lunch at fast food places and potentially miss your next tournament round.

There's also a cash raffle for folks who stay at the hotel, featuring $2,000 in prizes *just* for staying in the hotel where the convention is.

    Tournaments:
We have a huge array of Warmachine & Hordes specific events running all weekend:
    Friday,Aug 31, 9am-5pm (Hard Core Tournament)
Friday, Aug 31, 7pm-12:30am (Tier Tournament)
    Friday, Aug 31, 12am-3am (Deathrace)

    Saturday,Sept 1, 9am-5pm (SR Tournament)
Saturday, Sept 1, 7pm-12:30am (Team Tournament)
    Saturday, Sept 1, 12am-3am (Deathrace)

    Sunday,Sept 2, 9am-5:30pm (NOVA Championship)
Sunday, Sept 2, 9am-5pm (Caster Madness)

    OpenPlay:
Beyond the tournaments listed above, we will be running 24/7 open play, so you can game long and hard into the wee hours of the night if tournaments aren't your thing. Open play opens Thursday night when the doors open, and won't close until they kick us out Sunday.

On top of whatever goodies we have that you can spend Iron Arena Skulls on, the convention as a whole has a 4-draws per day, 20 prize per draw raffle. The best part? Every time you lose agame, we give you a raffle ticket, so you actually win stuff for losing! How cool is that?

    PaintingCompetition:
CoolMiniorNot is sponsoring a Crystal brush qualifier painting competition, and the Warmachine / Hordes models are their own category (lumped in with Malifaux & Fantasy, separate from the 400+ 40k players). Also, the overall winner of the competition gets an airline ticket to Adepticon 2013!!

There is also the opportunity to have your army appearance judged bythe 40k appearance judges, and you can get helpful advice on how to improve your paint jobs. The scoring from the Appearance Judges will be used for helping decide the Master Craftsman Award for the Hardcore event, so be sure to stop by and show off your hard work!

    Seminars:

Justin McCoy, founder of Secret Weapon Miniatures, is running several seminars covering basing, weathering and even airbrushing!

    tl;dr/ work firewalled folks:

Convention entrance fee is $35, WM/H pass is an additional $25, so $60 gets you into all the tournaments and open play all weekend long, plus a gigantic swag bag (est $75+). Hotel rate is unheard of for Crystal City at $85 a night, and rooms are available from the 28th through the 4th at that price. Meal plan includes Breakfast & Lunch for Fri, Sat, & Sun for $58, and you don't have to leave the hotel to get it. Painting Comp has "single mini", "large single mini (40mm+)" and "group of 3-10 minis that fit into 6"x8" " categories.

Is there going to be a way to register for events? Or are they going to be first come first serve? I've got the hotel booked and the badges ordered. I'm looking forward to this as you guys did a great job on short notice at the Colonial up here.

Tournament registration is first-come first-serve, based on regsistration date / time. It is currently being handled via e-mail, so you should see one shortly (We get updates of new registrants every so often, and we send out e-mails accordingly). Right now, there is still room in every event, but the Hardcore, Team Tournament and SR2012 Tournament are all filling up quickly. The sooner you register for the convention, the closer you are to the front of the line for picking your slots in the tournaments.

We appreciate your patience as we coordinate the tournament registrations.

    Thanks!
