    Default 25pt List - Tier 4 Morghoul (I'm new)

Well, I am a warhammer fantasy player at heart, but some of my friends have decided to jump into Warmachine/Hordes. I'm looking to collect 2 armies (one from hordes and one from warmachine). I'm leaning towards a Skrone army as I like the models/themes.

This is the first list I have put together. It is a 25pt Tier 4 Morghoul list.

    Morghoul (+7)
    - Titan Gladiator (7)
    - Bronzeback Titan (9)
    Cataphract Arcuarii (6)
    Cataphract Arcuarii (6)
    Paingiver Beast Handlers (2)
    Paingiver Beast Handlers (2)

How is this for a starter army? Is there any hints/tips people could give me before I go out and drop around $160.00 on this, thanks.

Tier lists aren't always a good thing. and thats probably a understatement... and some only start to "work" in the higher point games.

I know you have them there for the Tier List, but A unit of Arcuari aren't something you just throw into a list... especially 2... That said, I am still trying to put my finger on what infantry I want to run with Morghoul.

2 units of beasthandlers usually arent required until say 50ish pts. if you think you will stay in the lower ranges for a while, id say stay with 1 unit.

But yeah, Id say Gladiator, Bronzeback, 1x MIN Beast Handlers are solid choices for just about any caster.

The morghoul tier works really well but it's not something you should do at 25 points.

So the army I posted won't work well? How should I change it up?

My opinion is that you're spending too many points trying to meet tier requirements. Specifically, that second unit of Paingivers isn't going to do much, and Morghoul is a little low on beasts. The list might work, but not everyone will be contributing very well. Here's my take:

You have two great warbeasts, the Bronzeback and the Gladiator, and they work very well together, so you're good there.

The two units of Arcuarii will work. I've had good success with pMorghoul plus Arcs in the past. I would personally feel more comfotable running a light Warbeast like a Cyclops (all are good with pMorghoul, even the Raider since you're going with Arcuarii) and one unit of Arcs. This will give Morghoul more transfer options, and other tools depending on what the warbeast is, but two Arcuarii will probably be alright.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with the Shaman or Brute. The Shaman can hand out Rush, letting Morghoul save his Fury for Abuse, and has a gun with Magic Weapon and Ghost Shot. The Brute can protect Morghoul really well by giving him Knockdown immunity and Soaking a ranged attack for him once per turn.

If I were to remake the list, I'd do:

    pMorghoul (+7)
    *Bronzeback Titan (10)
    *Titan Gladiator (8)
    *Cyclops Shaman (5)

    4 Cataphract Arcuarii (6)
    6 Paingiver Beast Handlers (3)

You're still on the road to having a Tier list with Titans, Cyclopes, Arcuarii and beast handlers, but you have more versatility in spellcasting, with the Shaman, who can also fill the role of decent ranged or melee beast, especially with access to pMorghoul's spells. Another variant would be to run this:

    Master Tormentor Morghoul (+7)
    *Titan Sentry (9)
    *Titan Gladiator (8)
    *Cyclops Shaman (5)

    4 Cataphract Arcuarii (6)
    4 Paingiver Beast Handlers (2)

    Agonizer (2)

This doesn't have the pure killiness of the Bronzeback, but does give you the very powerful Locker animus, which the Shaman can duplicate to pin a Warjack/beast in place between it and the Sentry. It also includes and Agonizer, which is one of my favorite Skorne models. It's very powerful, and works very well with pMorghoul, although I'm not sure if it's in his Tier.
I'm contributing to a Warmachine/Hordes blog. Here it is: 4+ Tough. I'm posting as pGrexy.

If you plan to stick with morghoul, I can get behind those suggestions...

If you plan to try a variety of locks, you might have a hard time finding space for the arcuarii in other lists... That said, Keep EHexeris in mind, he goes well with them too.
