    Default Enablers ;)

    Fellow Gamers,
I know I am not alone, but every once in a while it is worthwhile to recognize our enablers... My Wife just put together my Stormwall and a full unit of MoW Bombardiers (yes we fight amongst ourselves all while watching LOTR! That is Love, Acceptance and enabling Lucky Me!
Thank you Kristi, you are the greatest!

WIFE HER.... wait, you did... good job!

I used to be able to get my missus to play Magic or the odd boardgame, but she won't play minis games.

A big thank you to the enablers...my fiancee enjoys painting her Cygnar, and most recently was having a discussion about "strategy" in a university course of hers. The professor related strategy and chess...she related strategy and Warmachine. And this is (partially) why she got a ring =)

It is rather awesome and I know how you feel. The girl I intend to marry purchased my first warmachine model, she also purchased three warpacks herself, doing her own research. It it rather awesome to share learning this game together even if I'm the one expected to build and paint them all. But I can't complain she knits me socks as I paint and we both play. Got to love the partner who supports and enables the game.

Congrats on your happy enabling wife, may she give as much as she gets on the table

Based on how my wife and I play canasta together, I'm glad she doesn't play Wm/H. She is competitive and sneaky. And a poor winner. But on the bright side last week when we were near the LGS she said "how much is that big guy you want?" 10 minutes later I had my Stormwall in hand.

My enabler is my fiancee, we play almost all games together from table tops to computer games and he has bought me my fav warmachine army legion : ). Like Tadgo if I make a hint to a model I'd really like he goes and picks it up for me 9 times out of 10 .. that one odd time is when we fight : P jk. Always great to have someone to talk tactics and zany army ideas with.

He doesnt only enable me in warmachine but also all the random euro mini games we pick up along the way that people wouldnt look twice at he is the best to sit through poorly written rules and overpowered gameplay to test it out XD

My wife is also very much an enabler, with both the minis and the guns. She loves gaming and shooting too though.

No significant other for me, but my brother does assemble and (when he can) paint my miniatures for me. So I suppose I should take the chance to thank him for all the effort he's invested in helping me out. :3

My girlfriend and I have fun painting, and she vows to never play an unpainted army. She's just finished up her 15 points of Menoth, while I've got 50+ of Cygnar and 15 points of Circle. She's a doll.

Yea my wife does not play, but she supports it fully. When I was thinking about starting a small second faction with Blindwater, she went to my supplier at the time and ordered Barney, Calaban, Wrastler, Spitter, Snapper, Max Posse, 3x Croaks, feralgeist, swamp gobbers, and a Totem Hunter. She got with him on what to order of course. It was a great present! Also she actually liked the Barnabas model so much she bought 2 and made me promise to paint her one.

My wife got an Art Studio minor in college, so she was really interested in watching me paint and wanted to learn the techniques that make mini painting different than her normal canvas paintings. She picked it up really fast and helped me paint a lot of my old 40K models. She really didn't like 40k, though, so I never got her playing it.

When I discovered Warmachine about a year ago, she played a few battlebox games with me and got hooked. she now has 100+ points of circle (fully painted except for a new batch of models she just ordered), and plays in tournaments with me. She came all the way up to Chicago for Adepticon this year, and is driving up to Dallas with me this weekend for another small con.

It's awesome to have a wife that is supportive of the hobby I love. and even cooler that we can play, paint, and chat about the game together.

My wife plays casually. She puts a bit too much pressure on herself to play it in a league or tournament setting, but we haven't tried a doubles game yet. We've played in doubles tourneys for other systems and she loves that, so that's next on my list.

My wife got me a pre-release Stormwall as a birthday present. A skilled needlewoman, she keeps threatening to make me a Cygnar cosplay outfit... probably a Stormcaller.

And every time I head off to play at the LGS, she waves me off with a happy smile and a "Kick-***, honey!"

    What a great thread!

I have just moved in with my girlfriend, and we do like a lot of the same things. I hope to get her involved in this hobby on some level. I don't know if she will ever play or not, but just to have her assemble or paint with me would be a lot of fun.

    I'll work on it.

My wife is a great enabler for me. She has bought me minis and paint, and kept our daughter entertained while I played. She's even offered to buy me the full War Room dataset for my birthday.

One night last month, my wife looks at my collection - which I think is sizable - and asks, "Which ones did I buy you again?"

I point out a couple on my desk that she bought and her reply, I kid you not, was, "I must not be buying you enough figs."

    Wife here as well.

She managed to trick me into giving her a list of all models I need for my new Cygnar army, then she stalled any purchase I planned, all the while she organized all friends and family to get me those models as a birthday present.

I have to say it was one of more fun birthdays I had in years. Not to mention that she is the one to complain when I play on the computer instead of painting or going to the LGS.

The only minor flaw is that she only finds wargames interesting as long I'm the one involved

My boss sprang a business trip next month on me a few days ago. As part of the preparation, my wife and I agreed that I need a new phone. My old one was a prepaid one that, while it was good, has been increasingly flaky of late. Today we went to wireless store to take care of both our phones, hers having other issues to address. I kinda wanted a smartphone, but money's tight so I was going to put it off. As we're talking, my wife says to the sales rep, "So, how much would getting him a smartphone cost us?" then turns, looks at me, and says, "Well, you wanted one to run War Room on." I love my wife.

My wife is not a gamer, but she understands my need for a hobby and doesn't criticize my discretionary spending. And when I found a Grundback Battlebox in an LGS a couple months ago, she bought it for me.

I wish to state for the record that I hate most of you! I seek what the OP and many of you have found. And while I wile away and search in obscurity I hope you all really appreciate what you have.

My wife is totally fine with me being a nerd. And she always encourages me to go play at the LGS. I'm pretty sure I could not get her to play though. I did have her hooked on WoW and LoTRO for a while though.

I would also like to chime in at having a great wife. Not only did she pick me at the lgs put when we got married she said we should spend some of the money we were given to build our own gaming table. On top of it all the other day she told me that when we go up to templecon again she will watch our son more so I can spend more time with the guys.

As icing on the cake belly dancing is another one of her hobbies.
