    Default New Blood. - All input appreciated

    Good Afternoon fellow Bloods!

    I am now officially a transplant from "that other game" I have played 3 games from the Warmachine Two-Player Battle Box and decided I am here to stay. I chose Trollbloods as my first faction and decided I liked taking fury better than granting Focus

    Scottish Man-Slayers what could be a better faction!! I got a great deal on a Troll lot from craigslist but realized I have no idea what to make with it. I do have the Rulebook and Troll Book but am still having a problem making lists. The group I am going to be with is pretty competitive however they do understand I am new and are willing to help with learning every aspect except list building. I would be looking at doing 15 then 25 eventually ending at the 35 point range at which point I plan on switching casters from pMadrak to eMadrak. Without further babbling I present my models.

    pMadrak
    Impaler x 2
    Axer x 2
    Fennblades x 10
    Fennblade UA
    Mauler
    Warriors x 2

    Is it possible to get a good competitive army out of this? I plan on picking up more models as I progress but I think I should be able to get something hard hitting with what I have.

    Thanks for any help you can give!

    Well, for what you have available, I would think for 15 points:

    Chief Madrak Ironhide (*6pts)
    * Troll Axer (6pts)
    * Troll Axer (6pts)
    * Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)

    A strong melee brick that you rush up with Sure Foot for protection at the start, and then smash enemies when the opportunity arises. Then for 25 points, add in the Fennblades:

    Chief Madrak Ironhide (*6pts)
    * Troll Axer (6pts)
    * Troll Axer (6pts)
    * Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
    Trollkin Fennblades (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
    * Trollkin Fennblade Officer & Drummer (2pts)

    You can't Sure Foot protect the Fennblades, but they'll easily cover ground.

    Then, at 35 points if you want eMadrak instead, things would probably change a bit and will require more models bought. What were you thinking of getting?
    We are all legends. Our only choice is how to end the tale...

    The eMadrak I was going to follow VASH1318's Guide to Madraking and prob tryout this list

    Epic Madrak +5
    Mauler-9
    Runebearer-2
    10 Fennblades-8
    fennblade UA-2
    10 Burrowers-6
    3 longriders-7
    Champ hero-3
    Fell caller-3

    however I really like the Sons of Bragg and would somehow like to see them with this list. An extra turn of those 3 attacking would just be beastly.

    I do have the means to add models right now and I am more than willing to do so if you think a few models could really improve @ 15 and 25 points.

    While VASH1318's Guide to Madraking works for him it might not work for you. I've tried it, and I'm not crazy about it but I think that's more of a playstyle thing. I know it works very well for him, as we are in neighboring meta's. This game really is much more about finding what lists work for you and your individual style.

    You have what appears to be a pretty decent foundation for a starting Trollbloods player. I would pick up a couple of the more vital pieces, such as a Stone Scribe Chronicler, Fell Caller Hero, Janissa and the Krielstone with UA. I would also look into getting an Earthborn Dire Troll and either a Pyre troll or a Slag troll so you can vary up your beasts. I would also prioritize getting a couple of the Warlocks you are interested in playing, as that one change can really mix things up for you and how you play. eMadrak can play very, very different to pMadrak. Until you fill up the tool box with the essentials above I would stay away from the specialized units that work well with certain casters and in certain lists. Like Burrowers and Long Riders. And I feel that if you field Long Riders at all, you have to field Horthol as well, because he takes them to obscene levels of awesome.

    This is just my advice, you can take it however you like, but good luck and welcome to Trolls.

    Spume,

    I appreciate the input greatly! I am going to run the 15 point list while I get used to the game. Some of the models I know for sure I want to you are Mulg, Janissa, EBDT, Sons of Bragg. However I will pickup all the models you have listed I suppose it can not hurt at all to have an expanded toolbox except the wallet!
