    Default Fiona @ 50

    The discussion on the merc board for Fiona and LG's in Highborn got my Theorycrafting dojo in full swing. I've been testing her in 4*, but 20 affliction shots is just too sweet to not try. How does this look for an all comers list?

    Fiona the Black (*6pts)
    * Vanguard (5pts)
    * Rocinante (9pts)
    * Sylys Wyshnalyrr, the Seeker (2pts)
    Greygore Boomhowler & Co. (Boomhowler and 9 Grunts) (9pts)
    Horgenhold Forge Guard (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
    Long Gunner Infantry (Leader and 9 Grunts) (10pts)
    Sea Dog Deck Gun (2pts)
    Eiryss, Angel of Retribution (3pts)
    First Mate Hawk (2pts)
    Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist (2pts)
    Master Gunner Dougal MacNaile (2pts)
    Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord (2pts)

    Roci and Sylys are just the loadout I usually use for her (Roci AOEs with Dougal too), I added the vanguard for some shield guarding, boomies are just THE BEST tarpit with roth's mercy, FG for a flanking force with high damage output (might be too slow though?), LG's for the LOS ignoring double taps and affliction pain, the Deck Gun for the occasional cultist bonus for Fiona and the AOE for Dougal to affect, Eiryss to hunt as she does, Hawk for the arc node, Gorman for his usual stuff plus AOE for Dougal again, Dougal because why the F not with this many AOE's (plus the double powder ration mini feat on the LG's), and Rhupert to tough the FG.

    Thoughts? Concerns? Tweaks?

    Drop the deck gun for Taryn di la Rovissi. In my experiences with Fiona, she really does not need that 8th focus point. Not to mention, the deck gun is far too easy to hit with AoE's, so Fiona being one inch away from it is usually bad juju...

    Other than that, looks very solid.

    I will counter Magnus' opinion with you can never go wrong with an extra focus, especially with 2 shooting jacks. I use the Sea Dog Deck gun with Fiona quite a bit and it works great. And, in many games vs Menoth and Bart, i've never had an AOE go anywhere near the deck gun. There is usually way too much other stuff to shoot at.

    Overall, seems pretty good. All the usual suspects there. I tend to use Rorsch and Brine, but that is personal preference.

    I can see Magnus's point with the deck gun and I do get a lot of odd stares when I field it, but I can do fairly well as spotting when an opponent will have enough AOE's or magic bullet or something to take advantage of Fiona being close, so I move it away from her and let the cultist bonus go. Dougal can still help it earn some of it's points back, if that happens. Coming from Cygnar, I see it as a 2 point "squire-like" device, granting a focus battery point every round, and shooting a long range AOE to boot. Too bad it's not faster or increases her control area. Can you imagine if Fiona had a squire? ::shudder::

    But anyway, if the opponent has nothing to use against it, I keep her close to the cannon, and load up on focus to make her jacks shine or spam some Soulfire from Hawk in the backfield.

    Rorshe and Brine, hm? Interesting idea. What crazy combos do you pull off with those guys with Fiona?

    Not too much combo wise. Both are crazy survivable on her feat turn. Rorsch is just a great arc node, he can get out of trouble well and has solid ranged attacks. Brine is almost like having another heavy that doesn't need focus, plus two open fists for two-handed throw fun.
