    Default Magnets and LEDs?

Hello community. I am very new to terrain building and am attempting my first piece. I am working on a summoning circle of sorts. It will have three pylons and I intend to put LEDs in the tips of the pylons. Now transportation and durability sake I have thought about magnetizing the the pylons. My question is this if I wire my LED through my magnets to the power source, will they still turn on?

Power source -> magnet -> magnet -> LED

The power source is a 9v battery that powers the three LED series, and the magnets are neodymium rare earth. Any help is appreciated, thanks and happy gaming.

Seen it done, so yes. Now, not sure if resistance values might be a factor, but some experimentation can solve that.

Excellent, this is all theory at the moment, as everything is on order and on its way. I don't have anything physically in my hands except my magnets. I definitely appreciate the quick response and am hopeful I can get it to work. Thanks again.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a button/coin cell and put it into the pylons themselves? And skip the whole current through magnet, resistance, polarity issues?
You don't need much voltage for the LED, so this setup could get quite tiny and last forever....

It will work but might be better to either do as Nemo says or to hollow out the base of the pylons and use quick disconnects for the wire.

One issue I see in running current through the magnets is in the attaching the wires to them process, if you solder you run the risk of heating up and demagnetizing your magnets. I would personally vote for the button cell in the pillar option. LEDs need what, .7 of a volt to turn on?

Can anyone suggest any quick connects to use?

Maybe scrap some of/like these giveaways:

You get all the stuff for free: Battery hold, tiny switch, even the battery. Just find some company/store that gives such things away.

You'll just need to 'lengthen' the connection between LED and switch/battery and your done

You could try using a two wire molex connector. I usually get them for DigiKey.
