Yea, I spent over $400 on airfare for GenCon. Plus another $300+ on hotels, and I'm not even that close to the con, 6-7 miles from downtown Indy.

When I did the math I was like... wait a minute... I could have bought six Hyperions for that!

I've never been to GenCon, I hope it's worth it! lol

My god is Hyperion ugly. My wallet is happy (as far as an empty wallet can be.)

And Arc Node discs not being Arc Nodes: they shouldn't be the same design then. Grrr...

    Hmmm, there's a thought...

Presuming that the discs are supposed to be the Thresher Cannons, I should have some spare Vyre jack parts that I could replace them with to look more like guns...

Maybe... I'll have to see how it looks when I finally get it. The discs could be oversized versions of normal ones. Well, I'll work something out! :P

If we're lucky Privateer will let us buy the Shoulderpads as bits.

Then dawg, we can have shoulderpads, on our shoulderpads, on our Arc Nodes that aren't Arc Nodes!

It's not a 'Hyperion looks bad' as a model to me, just once again the studio color scheme combined with what looks like someone dragged the poor guy through dryer lint = he looks bad.

Thanks again for making another one of our models look ridiculous with a bad color scheme PP!

I love the model and the paint job, I think its WAY cooler than the standard scheme.

I'm going to have some figuring to do on what parts I want to do in what colours for mine ... I think I'm going to throw some green plates in with my usual black and grey I do on myrms.

About the thresher cannons, I think they're here:

It doesn't really look like it on the model, but the art in the book shows a thingy sticking out of that groove on either side that looks like it could be a gun to me. Kind of matches the secondary gun placement found on the other colossals, too.

Edit: If you check the 3d rotation, I think the gun (or whatever it is) shows a bit better on the other side of Hyperion.

Huh? This is clearly not the normal studio color scheme, the weathered look adds a ton of character to the model while the other Myrmidons are just flat white. This is easily our best looking Warjack studio paint job wise.

I'll be picking up two of these on release, think they look pretty good. But it is a shame to see an even longer wait until we get Vyros2.

I'm kind of still hoping Vyros will be at Gencon so I can get a ninja to pick him up for me, but that's not looking too likely now. Especially since Kraken was at L&L but not Gaspy3 - they seem to be focusing on getting the colossals through production before the casters. Ah well, he'll arrive eventually.

From what I recall, eVyros' tier list makes Destors extremely fast first turn, so people have been (so far) fairly successful with using it as a jam list that can have Destors engaging the enemy near their own deployment zone.

From some early playtests the theme force (v2 rocket as I call it) it handles some of our more problematic matchups such as eLylyth by being able to jam them so fast and combined with his feat it becomes very difficult to dislodge models because others can always step up to engage.

His tier force gives Destors +2 Speed on first turn, makes them FA: U and 1 point less. So using 2-3 units of them you can run them first turn within 11" of your opponent's deployment zone, and use your feat, meaning they move 8" further in if someone dies. Most lists simply can't fight their way out of their own deployment zone while anything that DOES get through (which generally isn't much) gets cut down by ADing Sentinels and his warjacks, giving you an almost unparallelled advantage in winning via scenario.

    RE: the shoulder disks -

I think those things are Phoenix Field generators. Although the base model stats do not have Phoenix Field, the Hyperion does gain the ability when fielding 2 in Unbound. It could be that in Fluff or early model concept the Hyperion has a Phoenix Field, but in playtesting it was found to be unbalanced and they chose not to include the rule in the base stats (but fine for Unbound).

Though I also feel as though they probably had the phoenix rule prior to testing, I believe you are forgetting the Aspis/Chimera with their association to the phoenix field/disks. The Aspis has no disks but has phoenix field. The Chimera has the disks but has no phoenix field, though it does have an arc node. I'm thinking the HYPERION might have also had an arc-node before testing. They probably made this guy REALLY good but ended up having to nerf him HARD.

Hypnos does, in fact, have an arc node.

The discs are arc nodes. It's the only similarity between models that have them, Hyperion aside. They should never have been included on the model unless the artist was given poor information about the final intended rules block.

Yea. I don't consider myself a "beardy gamer" but this is one of those "angry beardy gamer" moments for me.

    Those are arc nodes.

Every bit of art and fluff before it established that those are Arcnodes and Hypnos for example has one right behind the head and has NO Field Boxes, so it's not like they can say that's for the field.

That's an arc node. Discs are arc nodes.

I love Privateer, but it was INCREDIBLY sloppy to include two giant arc nodes on the model but then at the same time not take them off when the rules no longer supported the Arc Nodes in play.

I too am likely going to try and model my Hyperion without them as they simply are, without a doubt in my mind, arc nodes.

I remeber that each cannon must be used on their respective arcs but I don't remember if they are actually tied to a system (you will loose a die if the system is crippled). Like I said my copy is on a friend house.

Yeah, they are on L and R.

If you look at the little fluff-stats block, though, you see that the blade fists are on the left and right arms, but it says the thresher cannons are on the left and right chassis. That's the reason for my hypothesis, anyway.
