    Default Hyperion on Front Page!

    Here

Hyperions tower over the vanguard of Retribution forces, armed with an incomprehensibly powerful starburst weapon capable of annihilating anything in its blast. Originally designed centuries ago to protect Ios from the unspeakable threat of dragons, the power Hyperions wield is so terrible they were banned from Iosan cities and relegated to deployment along its borders. Incissar Vyros, emboldened by victory, has now overridden that order to add these most formidable Iosan constructs ever developed to the Retribution’s arsenal.

Vlad wants those shoulderpads. I think it's nice, but I'm not sure, I just can't make up my mind about Ret jacks.

I dislike the shoulder pads on top of shoulder pads thing. I'll also have to mod it to swap the location of the head and the gun. Chest head has always been a horrible idea for Ret jacks and the gun would never be designed that way by any engineer that is not on bath salts.

He looks good, but a lot of that is the amazing paint job. I'd be terrified of painting that guy up myself.

If those are resin, someone please mod those onto vlad.

Also, they definitely have the coolest fluff out of all colossals. You really get the feel of overaweing power, and if it werent for balance they would have non-crit consume and pow22.

Yeah, by the fluff consume is not a critical. But I guess it was the choice between RGN 2 or a Crit, right?

it's ok. but then i've never liked ret jacks. i get that they're supposed to be alien and different... i just don't think they fit the setting at all. that being said, i think this is probably one of the better looking ones.

So it's just a Manticore, except bigger and with some more details?

I'm not a fan. But luckily I don't play Retribution.

    Damn, dat grit on white.

Seriously I think people would've been less annoyed at the Ret color scheme if they debuted with that level of weathering and grit on the white. That way people would've gone "ooh all white army, neat" instead of "Who gets paid for this?"

I just don't like the fact that the head is on the chest and the place where the head should be is an empty void.

nah, not a favorite model no matter how you mod it...

I will be waiting with anticipation to see the parts breakdown on this one. I want to know what sized colored marble to get for the Starburst Cannon.

This thing is sweet. I'm looking forward to getting one. I have to admit, this is the best paint job I think I've seen the studio put out on a Ret model. The weathering on the white is something else.

Good to see the final paintjob, I must admit I am surprised that eVyros isn't going to be out (at least as of now) in October to coincide with the release of the Ret colossal as well. Each other caster has been released with their factions corresponding Colossal but perhaps they will put Vyros with Galleon in November.

I was thinking more about the Death Ray List from Evilness that posted Mastershake a while back.

Than again, who can say no to Phoenix Field?

When I saw Ossram first my heart sank. It though that Galleon was going to be released on October too. Thankfully we get Hyperion

I really like the design of ret jacks. I like the head placement and love the pauldron look. Big pauldrons on people in armor looks goofy because of the logistic of wearing it. On a giant robot that hauling its main weapons on its shoulders it looks just right.

And just like that, Retribution pulls back ahead of Cygnar as a possible second faction. That's a darn pretty model.

The above is my personal opinion, and in no way should be taken as representative of the overall Skorne community. Even when I claim otherwise.

This is my feeling as well. I think it's a cool model by itself, but in context it just looks like a really big Manticore. The other factions' 'jacks have a more unique look to them. They should have gone with something deceptively skinny/spindly, with a praying mantis type structure, with a really powerful shield generator. That's what I was hoping for. I'm going to pretend that their decision to go in this direction is evidence that they're reserving insect motifs for a future faction...

I gotta say... The weathered and dirtied-up changes to the standard RoS studio scheme really look fantastic!!!

No offense meant to the studio painters, because I know they can out paint me seven ways to Sunday, but this is how the Ret should have looked from day one...

It looks quite good although I still dont like the whole "face-in-my-chest" thing it has going on, it looks like someone bonked it really hard over the head and knocked its head down to where the chest used to be.

I'm trying to figure out how to make my Blue and Blue ret scheme all wonderfully dirty like that... Oh, that model is glorious!

I feel that comparing real world engineers and technology standards to Iosan engineers and myrmidons in a world filled with magic just doesn't work.

The only reason why those shoulder pads might look out of place is that it doesn't have a stylish cape to balance them out, like certain other giant robots in other settings.

But the head positioning on the Hyperion is consistent with the head position on every single other Retribution warjack. It just happens to be a bit further forward than the heavy myrmidons and positioned more like the light myrmidons.

I'll echo the general consensus and say that that is an absolutely fantastic paintjob. The model itself is OK, but it's the paintwork that makes you want to keep looking at it and go "wow... awesome".

That's how they originally designed the Hyperion. However, due to a misfire during prototype testing, the original head and a 10-foot length of the engineers' ladder were critically consumed, so chest is as high as the arcanists could reach to place the new head.

Heh, I forgot about the concept of taking two in single 'caster games - I saw 17 point Colossals with Phoenix Fields and decided I only ever want to play Unbound from now on

Also, as for all the people who want it's head where it's gun is, you are aware there's nobody in this thing, right? So it doesn't have to conform to any kind of humanoid design? It could have it's head on it's knee and still work properly...

Totally with you on the head thing. Except I always feel compelled to point out the head position matches that of every warjack PP has made. Every other colossal especially. Why it matters so much on Hyperion is beyond me.

That said, very sexy model. Definitely my favorite studio Ret model to date.

Very nice indeed. Now if all the Ret. jacks were proportioned more like this one, I'd have them for a 3rd army.
