Default I made my first table: Train Heist board!

I'm pretty excited to show my first table with you guys. I've been wanting to take a stab at creating one of these for a while, and I spent a lot of time studying the threads in this forum for beginning. Thanks to everyone who has contributed here!

My idea was to stage a train heist not too far outside of a Cygnaran town. I'd need a field that could look like Caspia, a rail, a Cygnarian train, something to block the rail with to start the heist, and some telegraph poles for flavor. This is the result!

Comments and critique welcomed! One thing I've learned so far: 4'x4' of MDF board is an unwieldy PITA. Next time, I'm going segments.

This looks great! What did you use as the base for the train?

I bought a toy train kit at Hobby Town, came with the engine, a few cars, and the tracks you see on the board. Real trains were super expensive, and the toy train set looked like the right scale and was only $40. Primed it, and then began airbrushing/painting.

    That look sweet!
In hindsight, you probably should have used insulation foam to build the hill. That would've made the board a lot lighter to move around.

I did use pink insulation foam for all the terrain... I just used wood glue to attach it to a heavy wooden base =P

I think so, but I stacked it up as many as 3 pieces high to create hills and a valley.

It looks great! I especially liked how you did the rust on the fencing. It's really nice.

Your table is beautiful! And you say you have not done this before? Come on, tell the truth.

I`m not sure what MDF is or how thick, but I use tempered hardboard which is very tough, thin and lite.

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

this looks great but i think the space is too open only the train takes up some of the space, maybe you could add a mine or a station or something that will add more interest to the "scene", other than that it looks fantastic

Looks cool. How does it play. I can see a lot of my fellow players complaining about all the difficult terrain slowing them down in the centre of the table.

Saw this table a few days ago at Coal and Claw Weekend-- the pictures don't do it justice! Very nice work, sir.

I played on this table at Coal and Claw Weekend. I was defending my fellow swans in the train. Something that I'm not sure has been mentioned, the train can be moved. This came up when playing a Destruction objective where the flag wanted to be placed right under the front of the train. Fun table to play on and great to look at.

    Great board!
Say, any chance you remember the company that makes that toy train?

Sweet looking set. Do you remember what brand the toy train was? Can you show a pic with some models to get an idea of scale?
