    Default Airbrushing 30mm Miniatures

I have seen people mention around here that they airbrushed small details on miniatures, like cloaks on 30mm miniatures. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for an airbrush that would be good for this level of detail, and any pointers?

    Thanks ahead of time.

Check TCP Global. They have a plethora of airbrushes.

I use a Harder & Steenbeck infinity with a 0.15mm needle. The smaller the needle, the mo gangsta it is.

A few things you need to know before going in and getting into airbrushing models.
1- It's expensive. If you want fine detail, then a good decent airbrush is what you want. Then you need a compressor...DO NOT used compressed air in the can...waste of time and money. Those cans...when you get half empty of air, you can loose all pressure and you paint can splatter.
2- Do not think for one second that you can get what you want on your model right away...it takes practice.
3- Do you want single action, double action...internal mix or gravity fed...need to know thoughts.

I first started with a Badger 350 single action internal mix...then got into Paasche VLS double action. I probably spent at least a good year or two with my Badger before getting the Paasche. Still to this day, I still use the Badger for base coats and the Paasche for fine detail work. Just look up on the net about airbrushing and it will get you some good brain food for thought

Thanks a lot Schnauzerface... now I am wanting a new air brush. Time to start the begging.

An air brush can really change the way you paint but more importantly, at least to me, save you time. I can paint a warjack/beast so much faster. Even infantry to a degree, not as much, but it depends on the models.

Best thing tho, priming indoors no matter the weather with Vallejo primers.

Haha, it'll be worth it. When I told my wife about buying the H&S, I said "I got a new airbrush. Maybe you should go shopping and treat yourself so I don't feel so bad about it." She was out at the stores for a good long while, if memory serves.

She was happy. I was happy. It worked out well. Perhaps a little too well...

Thanks for all the advice guys. I already had been airbrushing mainly to base coat and prime so I had a fine compressor etc... just not a very fine airbrush.

I went out today and bought an airbrush with a smaller needle. I could not find the H&S one locally so I got a badger with a Michaels 40%. Though I have read some reviews and that may be my next toy once I get a bit better at this.
However I am already seeing the difference and speed increase. Here are a couple of pictures from today. Decided to work on my brothers CoB warpack. Spike fell out when I was turning it... got caught on my glove.

Default What kind of paint and tip size are you using for priming and painting.

Hey just saw your post and was impressed with your skills and what not. you mentioned that you ahve been priming and base coasting with an airbrush already. I am working on getting into airbrushing and i have an Iwata HP-CS with a .3mm nozzle. I am using Createx Opaque paints and having some trouble with thinning and clogging. and general technique. figuring some things out but just gathering some pointers form everyone.

    Thanks.
