Default Just got Constance Blaize, need some help.

So I just got my Constance Blaize model in and I'm so excited to use her. I'm using her as a Merc, not Cygnar, and I'm trying to find a way to make her more.... Merc....-y.... Also, she will probably be running with pirates, which is a sort of theme for my models, mainly the bases. I've been debating as I cut the flash off of the model... but I can't really come up with something on such a tiny model. If you guys have any suggestions please let me know! (:

    Eyepatch?

Seriously, those swirling scarves she has could look like pirate bandanas, and even have a sort of under-water look to them.

I've seen some cool pirate jacks which replace the shield with a ship's wheel.

You could paint her in blues and greens, like a Song of Ice and Fire drowned god priest.

You could go for a drab colour scheme, and put a begging bowl in her shield hand, since she's doing outreach work.

She really is a tiny model isn't she! And so flimsy, mine broke the handle off her sword and she looks like her arms will snap off just by looking at her...

Just think how cool some of these new casters would look if they had been sculpted like the older ones Vindictus and Constance comes to mind

I'd suggest doing some serious weathering on her armor to make it look like it's been tormented by the ocean. Also, keep in mind that you don't need to change the model. You can convey a connection to the pirates by putting them all on similar bases. If it were me I'd make some sandy beach bases, sculpt up a couple of shells to sink into the sand and then apply a little clear epoxy resin for a water effect.

That way you can have her in similar colors as the pirates and then the uniform bases will bring it all together.

I do like the ideas everyone has posted! Thanks guys!

-WFM, I'll try a bandana or something of the sort, or an eye patch. I do like the idea of replacing her shield in some way! To the internets!

-Ishmale, I totally agree, my MacBain model was even able to be converted pretty well when I cut his leg apart! (I have pictures on the forum somewhere, but I think they've been buried.)

-PPS_Meg, What a privilege to have you helping me here! Highly appreciated! I have been trying to think of a very universal painting scheme I can do, unfortunately I have painted maybe 2 models in my life... and I'm HORRIBLE at it. I'm going to try to learn, but I'm a LONG ways off from pulling off things like weathering! Although, that was my major plan with her due to the lack of customization I can do to her. I have been making bases from plasticard and cork for my MacBain and my Nomad. They are going to be docks, so I cut the cork into little pillars and glue tiny strips of thickened plasticard together to make it work. Underneath I'm going to paint them in a blue-green color like a deep-ish ocean and put layered water effects filling it in. To give the bases depth I have cut out the centers and glued plasticards to the bottom, giving me the entire thickness of the bases to work with. I hope they come out alright, unfortunately I'm very broke and won't get to buy the paints and water effects for a little while.

-PapaSorne, Those look awesome! I might pick those up for all of my grunts! It'll save me a ton of time trying to make my own bases for everything.

Don't limit yourself thinking you can't do it. Doesn't matter how many models you've painted, you can always learn a new skill to file away in your arsenal. Weathering isn't as hard as people make it out to be. If you have access to the Forces of Hordes: Legion book there is a tutorial in there on how to add blood splatter. The same technique can be used but for weathering or making something look really dirty. It's easy! You just gotta try it. Use a piece of paper to practice on a couple of times till you get the hang of it.

As for color scheme and tying everything in together. Pick one or two colors that will be present on everyone in the force. That's all you need to do to create a "theme".

Thanks PPS_Meg! Encouragement is nice to have! Haha. I'll look into that in the book and give it a shot on some of my random practice models I have sitting around. I need to start practicing and reading more tutorials. I just don't have a lot of paints yet. d:

That's what I've been trying to decide on, what colors will look good across the board. I want something not too flashy... maybe a dark blue... hmmmm

Either way, THANKS. You are very helpful (I like to search around these forums for tips and tricks, and yours almost always help me).
