Is the only current solution to the shield guard dilemma is putting your Devout directly behind your small base caster?

Cry not for your dead. They now belong to me.
I see lead people.
Yes. If you're talking about the RAW interaction where the shield guard model can't guard if it can't see the target, the best way around that is to have the model behind the warcaster. That way if there's any way to see the caster, you have to see the shield-guard model too.
"If at first you don't succeed, label it version 1.0."
Could anybody quickly recap for me what this 'shiled guard dilemma' is and why ppl say shield guard is 'broken' atm?
As it stands now, the shield guard model has to be a viable target for the attacker for it to be able to use shield guard.
SO if the attacker turns around so that it can see it's intended target but not the model with shield guard, you cannot use shield guard anymore..
I honestly believe that the Infernals just plain forgot about this problem last time they were writing up the errata doc. Hopefully they won't forget again.

I dont get it... wouldn't it just be better to put a vigilant in front of your small based caster, instead of putting a devout behind your small based caster?
I dont really see the point of using a devout anymore, except maybe to stop disruptor bolt from hitting large-based casters like harbinger or kreoss3.

I find that the spell immunity generally doesnt matter since cryx can just target their own models to get around it. Venom is probably the most notorious example.
Yeah I understand that eiryss can turn so she cant see the devout, but I think if you partially screen the large-based caster with another large-based model, you can still force her to see the devout. Disruptor bolt is gonna be a huge problem for Kreoss3 :\

I have had opponents try to pull this crap on me. I usually use my Devout as a screen between Eyriss and my caster. If you place him properly it is very difficult for Eyriss to move far enough to get the shot anyway. Also, still works with MHSF, they can see through him but he can still block the shot. It gets dicey when you get closer or are flanked by two ranged units, but I would say, "don't let that happen. I like the idea of standing directly behind, but I think it is a similar principle. I think a fast unit can still move far enough to get LOS for one and not the other, kinda like standing in front.
Sure would be nice if they errataed him though. Or better yet, drop him a point.
In 2013 I have made a pledge to take time for myself and paint an hour every day. It takes me about 2 hours to paint a basic troopers so I made a point system to keep track of my goal. 2pts small base, 4 pts med base, 6 pts large base and bonus points for special figs. You should make your own pledge. Do 90 pts in 90 days, or even 30 points in 30 days. You can look here to see how I am doing, More flames and bones here!
