Hi all sorry it's taken me so long to get this done (I'm not much of a blogger).

Here is the list and my ramblings for my etc list that for me top legion player at this years ETC in Mansfield.

So I have been playing Kallus nearly exclusively for the past 3 months. I wanted to bring infantry machine to hordes and I felt that kallus didn't require the beasts other legion locks did.

So the list that went to the ETC was:

Kallus
2x shredders
Harrier
Stinger

Full swordsmen with UA
Full Swordsmen
Full Legionnaires with Farilor and standard
Full Legionnaires
Full spawning vessel
Min bog troggs
Swamp Gobbers
Death stalkers x2.

So I'll take the approach first.
The jam as its commonly called.
My target was to get as many bodies as I could into certain areas (control zone, Los blockers, key areas of the battle field) and pop my feat and restrict opponents from getting into my army.

I knew that I wanted double Legionnaires and knowing the Farilor was due to be released just before the event he was sure to be in. I started by adding him into the list and proxying him. So that was my solid base to sheid Kallus, with high armour, well as high as legion go and also reach to stop pesky burrowers.

Next was the hard hitters, I knew without a heavy I was going to need some serious hitting power, so swordsmen or hex hunters. I went with double swordsmen, one with a UA. Reason for selecting the swordsmen was simple enough. Though I do think hex hunters are possibly the best troops legion have I felt I put too much of a target on the single unit of swordsmen. The fact the swordsmen were also fearless helped (I have a bad habit of fleeing in games from my own stuff).

So with so many troops a full vessel was next. I know that the feat semi counters the pot but the following incubi can be tossed in so recycling at it purest. It also helped that if a lesser was destroyed I could respawn it and offer an unencumbered transfer target.

I have read many articles, but the one I took most from was Neutralises.

Firstly some good pointers on the use of his spell list. A good example is I played 8 games over the week end and cast dark guidance only 3 times. Found myself hording fury more and more.
Secondly, I had never considered the swamp gobbers, and they are a fantastic unit for the tactic I was looking to enforce.

With my battle group, whose sole role was tenacity, true sight. bushwhack and do transfers. They were to stay behind my battle line at all times and at least 3 free for transfers. So I went with double shredder, a harrier and stinger.

The stinger was the difficult decision, as I knew his animus was very limited with Kallus due to flashing blade. But felt that reach and the spray could come handy. Also he had a punch against living models (though only a single hit due to losing his body on a damage roll).

So that left me with 9pts for my ranged element. I very rarely play without my striders but without the UA and death stalker they lose alot of their prowess.
So I knew I wanted a death stalker leaving me with just 7pts. I considered archers to restrict areas of the battle field with covering fire. But I knew that with 52 models already in deployment zone, along with issues with line of sight and movement not to mention time I chose to look elsewhere.
The issues raised above meant that I looked at ambushing troops. So bog Troggs were in. They could slow an advance down kill key troops and solos. So the remaining points were invested in a second death stalker.

So lastly was my reinforcements. I wanted raptors mainly for the speed but they bring so much, weaponmasters poison bows and a light cavalry move.
So I chose Annayssa as my last model. Mainly down to being able to split her from the raptors to target another spot. Though she would lose her prey she does have parry and could run into key areas and though not impossible to kill she should be behind enemy lines and therefore the combat element would have to turn to target here.

So that's the thoughts, it's not a perfect list but causes more problems to opponents than my opponents can cause me.

So the list brought me the top Legion player at the ETC to my shock.

I must admit that seeing your list at the event was quite a surprise. I wouldn't have thought that it would be very efficient at all, but there you go good job on winning best legion player! I am impressed!

Thanks, wanted to try something out of the ordinary with Kallus. Most players can't deal with that number of bodies. In 2 games I lost 30+ models in a single round and it still didn't slow my attack down.

My mind still can't comprehend your list composition. Could you perhaps give a short rundown of your games during the ETC weekend? I'm very interested in how they went down. Also, did you test this list out against Harbinger or the likes?

Impressive run! Do you think that two unit of bogg troughs for scenario purposes ( central zones) would be good?

Interested in that as well. And I agree with Deacis, I still don't really get it... probably need to see it in action before I cna fully comprehend it. Sadly I didn't see it at the ETC!
