    Default Conquest Commission

I did this for a friend at my LHS, he just wanted a quick table top quality paint job. I am not overly keen on the color scheme, but I think it works. Also, the pictures are not the best, the Conquest is now too big for my little photo booth! Now there is just one more quick commission standing in my way, and then I will be able to devote ALL my attention to my Fort Falke Cygnar army!!

    Enjoy the pics!

Having those shoulders all the same color is driving me insane. Other than that, awesome job.

Thanks for posting this! This is the color scheme of my khador and it gives me a lot of inspiration. The gold shoulders look a little weird I'll agree. Otherwise great work.

The big brass shoulder pads could use a bit more work to help break up the flat area, but I guess that's a pitfall of that particular colour scheme. I really do enjoy your basing though! I like the use of snow to break up the layers of cork.

If you painted the inlay sections along the front as a black then it would break up that big block of bronze and maintain the colour scheme.

    But looks very cleanly done

Edit: One thing that was bugging me was the base. The dry dusty dirt and the snow seem to contradict each other a bit.

This looks good. I think with this kind of highly detailed model, it will be pretty tough not to paint to a better than average quality. I wish the rules of this model half matched how fun it looks to paint.

Your metals could all use a good wash or something to tone them down and make the details pop. As it stands now, they're very boring. The base is awesome.

He looks great. I would second that the gold needs to be toned down a bit.

    Thanks all for the feedback, but I wish people would really read my first post a bit better. This is the scheme I was asked to paint, and it was to be a table top quality job. To address the questions about the brass color, the reflection of the metallic paint is really hiding a lot of the weathering I did on the metal. In this WIP shot you can see the streaking I did a little better;

Because I can not fit this thing in my photo booth there is a lot of glare coming off of the metal. In the end though my friend is happy with the model, and it matches the rest of his army.

Thanks again for the comments and feedback.

There is no doubt in my mind that you're one of the best painters on this board, the photo just didn't do it justice! I'd love to see a conquest that you give the royal treatment like your stormwall.

    very solid table top quality.

I personally also do comissions and i am not sure if i would do a table top colossus myself feel like its a bit little for such a big model. Oh well clients are always right

One question: how did you make that snow? it really looks like you took snow from the fridge... i am really impressed.

How long did it take to paint that model start to finish? Looks really nice for supposed "tabletop" quality!

@Wankel - The snow is extremely simple. Future Floor Polish mixed with Woodland Scenics Snow Flock

@Picdechu - If I recall it was about 4 to 5 hours, did not take long at all.

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

Knowing that the shoulders aren't as rediculousamountsofbronze as they looked in the first photo makes me feel tons better. Now I can say with 100% confidence this model is sick.

Although... I like doing something with every single rivet on every single model... lol.
