So, I just picked up about 30 points of Trolls a couple of weeks ago and I'm trading off some of my unused mini's to fuel my purchases.

I've read and reread all of the stuff fin the Tactica ya'll have here.

So far, I have the Warpack, mininum Scattergunners, Runebearer, a Fellcaller, and a full Krielstone unit with Elder.

What would be the best things for me to purchase next? I know that I should get a heavy at some and another unit, but which beast kit should be the first to buy?

Also, I know I also need a tar pit unit to allow the Scatters to excel, but there seems to be some division on that issue. Should I get the Fennblades or the Kriel Warriors?

Fennblades would be less of a drain on the wallet than kriel warriors. As to which is better, I prefer Fennblades myself but the warriors are good too. The Heavy kit would work well for you, especially if you can magnetize it.

Definately the Troll heavy kit first. It gives you options and if you have good hobby skillz you can magnetize it.

After that your choice of infantry is truly preference. The boards have gone around in circles many times debating Fenns or Kriels. I'll say this, if you are on a budget, buy fenns. They also have performed very well for me personally so I prefer them.

Fenns are cheaper, buy them and more models. If you buy KWs, you will be $130 in by the time you're done if you buy from an LGS.

Heavy and a Tarpit unit. Kriels or Fenns depending on how you feel about the cost and utility. Out of the Heavies in the Kit I'd suggest starting with the Mauler, but the Bomber is also a solid choice.

What Warlocks do you have?

I have found that buying basic infantry is dictated by the Warlocks you run. I have just about everything for Trolls, but I have only played my Kriel Warriors once. Then again I play Burrowers, Champions, Long Riders and Scatterguners more then those, (you are correct that your scattergunners need a line in front of them = Fennblades, Kriel Warriors and Champions work well there....depending on the caster of course.
