Default I'm Assuming No One Ever Runs Dual Thrullg?

I can't think of a build where this makes sense, but I figured I'd ask,
Huh. Six months away from Cygnar and I've forgotten how to win... until Kara Sloan goes all 'bullet to the head' several games in a row. It's good to be back.

    And dual swamp horror?

2 Thrullgs in games over 35 points, sure.

2 Horrors... Barnabus vs infantry swarm?

Why wouldn't two Thrullg's make sense? I've been contemplating running a Maelock list at 50 points with two Thrullgs.

They're expensive, true, but the ability to strip upkeeps, animi, and focus seems worth it to me. Single wound spellcasters would hate them. And having a reach magic weapon or two is really nice when you see incorporeal models and units across the board.

I would definitely make room for a Thrullg or two in a Carver list if I were allowed to take them.

Ah, forgot about the magic weapon. That could have some value (likely not 6 points worth of value for two of them, but still).

I played against a Maelok list at an event just this past Saturday that had 2 Thrullgs in the list, 50-point 2-list SR2012 event.

Upkeep removal is a pretty big deal in competitive games... keeping the thrullg alive long enough can be tough, though.

I run two in damn near every game. So should you. As long as we are talking non-theme Calaban and 50 points. 35 points take one at least, but 2 is likely too much.

Dual Swamp horror makes less sense, though Maelok could do it as could Barnabas, and in a Calaban theme it might not be so silly on Wrong Eye. Well, it would be silly but can be powerful against the right opponent.

Is upkeep removal that powerful, or is it magic weapons?

Id say the upkeep removal is generally the main thing. Ripping off debuffs from posses and knocking off annoying enemy upkeeps. Though this showcases Thrullg weakness #2. Generally the upkeeps that need stripped are defense or armor based, thrullg has no problem with the armor ones of course but the defense buffs are a royal pain. Without arcane assasin youve basically got three chances (getting into claw range) to roll 10+ on two dice to strip something like iron flesh on a high defense unit.

Basically you bring the thrullg for the many things he might be able to do. He might disrupt jacks and strip a valuable upkeep from one of them, he could ghost bust a pistol wraith, so our warlocks dont have to waste focus or positioning to deal with them, he might win you the game by focus stripping an enemy caster. He could kill off half a unit of battle mages because they wandered into his death bubble. The only way to replicate some of these options in any Blindwater is with Caliban to some extant.

Of course these are things Thrullgs might do. To do them you've got to get around Thrullg problem #1 no stealth. Youve gotta keep him swaddled away behind posse members and beasts or else he'll take a bullet and wont be able to do all those wonderfull things that Thrullgs do.

I run 2 Thrullgs in a lot of my Maelok and, to a lesser extent, Barnabas lists. I'd take them with Calaban but I almost always run him in tier so I can't. The disruption effect is just a bonus, I don't bank on getting it in the game. However, removing debuffs from my own models is very worthwhile to me. I keep them behind my main line and just keep my models free of horrible effects from my opponents. I can't even begin to say how many times knocking off Crippling Grasp or something similar has won me games.

The Swamp Horror is nice, but I couldn't see 2 of them. For me, they're usually a second choice beast, even though they are pretty useful in the right circumstances.

I'm still debating on the ONE Thrullg when we have other nice 3 point packages like the Witch Doctor or the Bull Snapper. Though it does seem every time I bring the Thrullg I don't need the upkeep removal and when he's not there I wish I had one for upkeep removal... I guess sort of a "deterrent" piece at most for me because it is VERY difficult to get to the fight.

Signature stolen from Rotfell until he asks me to change it...

I'd rather spend the 3 points and bring a Thrullg and not have to use him, instead of not bringing him and wishing I did

Disruption on KD jacks with Barnabus is why I use them. The magic weapons are also necessary at times and upkeep removal is never a bad thing.
one game in a million he will hit a warcaster. Bonzer!

Agreed, but this is a chat about dual Thrullgs.
