Old Warmachine Player venturing into Hordes and Hopefully Legion.

So, I'd like to play Legion. I've read a lot about Legion on Battle College, but still I am very undecided on how to start building an Army, I'd like to just build one 35 point army, and I'd like to build it around Saeyrn, and a Typhon, and an Angelius.

Questions:

Are there things in Legion, that I need or should be aware about? Like everyone takes a Journeyman Warcaster with Cygnar, everyone takes Choirs for their jack's with the Protectorate. Everyone owns Widowmakers in Khador. Are there any staples I should have or at the least be aware of when building a Saeyrn army?

Are Grotesques any good with Saeyrn? I think I like those guys the most when it comes to units.

I don't like the medium based beasts, and I don't really care for the lesser warbeasts. If you could take any two or three Heavies with her, which ones would you pick?


This project is literally a three headed monster (pun intended) I want to paint it, have lots of fun playing it, and I want it to be a nasty tournament viable list. I've been playing Darius a lot lately, and I'm tired of doing a lot of losing. Normally I don't care, but for once, I'd like to have an army that's just plain old nasty.

You want beasts with Saeryn, angelius and scytheans to get the most from her feat.

A saeryn list needs 6 things, Swamp gobbos, Feralgeist, 2 death stalkers, 1-2 forsaken, 2-3 spell martyrs and a hell of a lot of beasts, one of them a shredder
With a pick of three heavys I would bring 2 Scytheans and one angel(and a shredder but no mater how much he growls he is no heavy). For a fourth beast I would bring Typhon, if pVayl is not my second list(if it is another angel is fine).
