    Default Hollow vs The Omegus

Used Mordikaar the other day against the Testament and a query popped up. Had a unit of Nihilators with Hollow, making them Undead, take casualties thus through Hollow give Mordikaar souls but my opponent said that the Testament's Omegus ability denies soul tokens for any models destroyed in his control area.

    Which takes effect?

The testament says you cannot collect souls so his ability stops any soul taking.

I thought it was more so you get the soul because of the spell effect, not because of the model itself.

Can not, on the Omegus, trumps may or can, the spell.

As a rule of thumb: cannot > may/can

no. you get the soul from both the spell effect and the affected model being destroyed combined together, not just the spell effect on its own. that's why it's blocked by the ogmeus
