    Default Whos your go-to caster?

So say its a one list tournie or a one off game against a good opponent, who is the caster you first turn to? Whether it be overt power or lack of bad matchups or simply your most played/comfortable caster?

    Mine has to be pButcher.

I love his feat for a turn of massive destruction then attrition for the win. I tend to try and camp 3 focus a turn for arm 21 which is hard to assasinate without a big ****-up on my behalf or as a result of losing most his army.

So i ask you, my fellow rusi.. Khadorians. Who is your go-to caster and why?

At the moment it's eVlad for me, especially now the doom reavers, drakhun and eliminators are all painted

He just makes all our killing machines even more killy, or turns our hard to hit/hurt stuff even more so. Having pretty well any single model in your army (except Saxon...) be a viable assassination piece is a good thing!

    Cheers,
    Dave

pButcher... He was the first caster i played with, and I love his spell list. I tend to play him as a support caster, slowly moving up and tempting the opponent to make a mistake.

I focus on two casters at a time and switch them out for another pair every 4-6 months. I'll be putting Vlad3 through his paces and pair him up with Sorscha1 for the foreseeable future.

Interesting optional piece but its interesting to see how many casters people run and how often.

I like to play as many casters as possible and mix it up constantly

I love all the khadorian casters in their own way. Soon ill own them all

In tournament I tend to take my best list and stay away from test list. As of now I would say it's PIrusk, I've been playing with him since the release of superiority(the book that is, how long ago was that?). I know exactly how he performs and what he is capable of. I don't take him very often in casual list because I want to get out of my comfort zone and PIrusk practically define my comfort zone.

For casual game, if I look at my game count since january 2012 it would be EIrusk and Zerkova but I've played most other casters at least a couple of times (the only one I haven't fielded since 2012 are karchev and the old witch). I like both their playstyle and I want to play them enough to make them as competitive as I can.

I've had good success with EIrusk super board control and mobility list (EIrusk with a gun carriage and the nyss hunters + valachev +tactical supremacy = high mobility and rough terrain for the enemy).

I've also had some success with Zerkova, wyshnayllyr and reinholdt are her two best friends when she is not in tier list. Half the time I play her it's with the hunting wolves tier list and the other half of the time it's with Wyshnayllyr & Reinholdt, with about the same rate of success.

If I take a look at my win/loss ration PIrusk is still ahead of the other two, but I like the difference in playstyle between these casters.

I haven't been playing long, but when I'm probably going to be playing against something or someone I haven't before I reach for pIrusk, behemoth and my WGI. A little mean, yeah probably but I feel like I almost always have a chance with them. Except against the new stormwall.

If i had to pick one it's pIrusk. It took me awhile because I'm stubborn, and started with Strakhov and Zerkova. After loosing a lot I picked up pIrusk, and have really gotten comfortable with him. I also run pVlad a lot, but he's a bit less interesting. I also finally picked up pButcher. That's a very different play style...

Every game I try to change my caster, I have them all except either of the Irusks.
However, when in doubt, I reach for Butcher, then the tough decision of whether prime or epic version.

For me, it's Strakhov. I have the most fun playing him and as a result I've played him more than anyone else. I know he is considered a one trick pony, but win or lose he is a lot of fun. He might have some bad matchups, but ive played him so much now that even in those bad matchups, I am more comfortable with him than anyone else. Superiority and occultation have become hard to live without for me.

Probably Harkevich with Butcher1 as a close second. With more and more colossals hitting the table, though, I can see Sorscha2 getting more and more table time.

I am a pButcher man myself. Everyone else sort of fits around him. I just find that he is fun and people find him hard to deal with no matter how many time you play against him. This is because when you don't rely on tricks you are hard to stop

Since MKII dropped it has been Karchev for me. With the advent of Colossals though I think I'm going to focus on ESorscha. She was already one of my favorites. Her feat is huge against all of hit points that colossals and gargantuans have and you've got to love her jack bond on Conquest. It doesn't hurt that she's got Iron Flesh and Boundless Charge either.

I'm captured by Vlad3 at the moment; http://j.mp/vlad3

Until now I've been playing (in this order): Vlad2, Irusk, Butcher, Strakhov, Vlad. I'm all in melee and attrition, a lot in field control (but not via defensive spells/feats), and not at all in shooting (just those snipers one needs).

I want spells and feats that push my melee oriented army to its extreme, while not being defensively: Irusk might belong on #1 (for his results), but for me Vlad2 is a lot more fun to play; http://j.mp/eVlad

Talking about fun, Vlad3 might rush to #1, #3 at least: he's absolutely fabulous, highly mobile, with a nice assassination potential by himself, and even a highly interesting melee jack-caster potential!

pIrusk, if I had to choose one. I have all of them except Vlad3, but play Irusk more than all the others combined.

It is interesting to see so much variation between peoples choices of casters. I still go with esorscha her feat letting beast09 just demolish anything. Been liking evlad as well.

Currently is pVlad for me. Fun, aggressive and can be played in a variety of styles (ha to resist hard not to put a "like your mum" joke in there)

And failing that pIrusk as the guy is such a toolbox there's nothing you can't do with him!

pButcher. For a maddened giant, he seems to have solutions for most problems, and he presents a big problem for my enemy.
"If I go after an assassination, I'll have X models in melee with the Butcher. If I go after that command point, I risk a charge from the Butcher."
I do recall one time where the Butcher and his dog, caused a Mule, the full squad of ARGMs controlling it (officer included), Ashlynn, and her Vanguard three rounds of headaches.

I intend to do the same, after I just started WM a few weeks before the Thornwood League where I had to field 5 different casters to get the combat patch - and was rather confused trying to learn all of them at once. I'll play pButcher and pVlad exclusively for the next month or two, then switch to someone else, probably eSorscha and Strakhov.

Hmm... pSorscha for me, I think.

Yeah, she doesn't get a great deal of 'press' here but her FEAT in combination with mortars and Ternion sprays can just wreck armies. Plus, being DEF 18 almost constantly from Wind Rush isn't too shabby either.

pIrusk all the way. He works well with any units, solos and jacks. He has spells that can answer most situations during battle.

I am very new to playing WM. I played 3 games using butch and lost all three. I then entered a league and we have to play 5 different painted casters. So i lost again with pbutch, lost with psorscha and won with Hark (against cryx) and then played another friendly with Esorscha (against cryx). I have to play esorscha in the league and pvlad.

I liked the feel of esorscha so i may give her more of a run out after the league. Though that could be because i won by her putting hammer to face and killing edenny in one hit!

That's a very viable strategy with ESorscha, I usually use her feat to take out enemy heavies with my army or to kill the enemy caster with ESorscha herself. She won't always do it and she shouldn't always be looking for a way to do it but if the opportunity is there go for it, ESorscha is very mobile and very dangerous with her feat.

pSorscha. Even if it's Menoth, and they have the book.

Close second; eButcher, non-theme. So beautifully, brutally simple. He also holds a special place in my heart for one-shotting a Hunter on a charge with Fury.

eVlad is my preferred 'caster. I am wary of his bad matchups, but I don't particularly worry about being able to kill this or that, just things like pFeora's feat which can wreck my army. He's the 'caster I'm most confident with, for sure. The fact that he can pull out so much damage from seemingly nowhere, and make every model in his army a threat, and then super solo if that doesn't work, makes him pretty fantastic in my eyes. I never feel like I'm out of options with eVlad.

Put me in the Prime Sorscha camp. The young Ice Queen was the first caster I knew when I started this game. It wasn't easy to get good with her. We lost a lot of games together. The thing is that I was so stubborn about becoming competent with her that I forced myself to play her exclusively for months. I think it was due to all the bruises we took together that I have gotten to know her so well. So now, I feel more comfortable with her than any other caster I own. I know what she's good at, I know what her weaknesses are, and I find myself winning more and more games with her.

might be adding vlad3 to that list ive played him 4 games and loved every one of them.
