Default 35pt pButcher list for Steamroller tournament

My casters have been dying alot lately in the Warmachine/Hordes league I've been playing in so I've switched back to playing the durable face-smashing original Butcher. Here's the 35pt list I've been using lately:

    pButcher

    Juggernaut
    Kodiak
    Marauder

    3 MoW Shocktroopers
Winter Guard Death Ball (10 Winter Guard, 3 Rocketeers, Officer & Standard)

Next weekend the store is having a 35 pt Steamroller tournament. We have a fairly even distribution of factions. Any changes you'd recommend?

You have Joe with the WG presumably?

    I run PButcher
    Wardog
    1 Berserker
    Full WG deathstar + Joe

I'm solid with this for several games. Berserker can run for free and contest objectives and pretend to be a threat. Butcher casts IF on WG. Leaves him on ARM 23 turn 2 onwards. Wardog gives DEF19 in melee if he IFs himself. Is a tough nut to crack.
My favourite ploy is to bait a charge on him, by a warbeast or enemy caster; take some damage and then kill off the charging model in his turn. Saves him the hassle of going after them himself. Not something I'd try vs. some of the harder Hordes beasties though...

    In addition I'm experimenting with

2 x 2 Eliminators (Used in 2 games. Only killed a Lord of the Feast with them so far as I squandered them. Obviously a lot faster and more dangerous than the 2nd Berserker they replaced, but also a lot squishier).
5 Demo Corps - great models. Screen butcher. Hit like a ton of bricks on feat turn + not bad on other turns. Sometimes use Fury on them for added hittiness.
Gorman - Black oil bomb wins games. Lucky scatter on PKaya in a game and that was her knackered for a turn.
Aiyana & Holt - Gives magic attacks where needed, can give effective +2 damage vs. an enemy target, or can just sneak around stealthed shooting out 2 MAT8 POW12 shots per turn. In theory can combo with Gorman rust bomb so that Butcher is doing 3D6 damage per hit to a standard Khador jack.

List is weak vs. shooty lists - Cygnar mainly. I'm working on a 2nd list for anti-Cygnar for tournies, but Butcher is my go to for the other factions.

So, a lot less durable than your list, but with greater killpower. To keep your jack heavy theme going I'd drop the Marauder to a Berserker and get Butcher a pet doggy.

    Just my several cents.

    I like:

    Butcher
    War dog
    Juggernaut
    Kodiak
    Marauder
    Great bears
    Kayazy (full + boss)
    eEiryss

This way your opponent is forced to either focus on high defense infantry, or high armor jacks. Keep one assassin near the butcher at all times allowing for iron flesh to cat on the whole unit every turn. Do not upkeep it.

Chosenbythesun that is the exact same list I play at 35 points....it is a very good list.

I just don't know how to take it up to 50 points....any suggestions?

I'm thinking of dropping the MoW (6 pts) for Kovnik Joe (2), War Dog (1), and 6 Mechaniks (3).

That's only a 32 point (tier) list..... I'd recommend using the last 3 points :-)

    Definitely take Joe! e.g. Hitting a Satyxis on 11+ on 3D6 vs. 2D6 is 8% vs. 50%.
Joe is what makes the Deathstar fully operational.
My best game to date is losing 3WG for the loss of 20ish Bane Thralls. Shotgun power for the win!

Wardog is also made of win. DEF19 Butcher on ARM23 is good fun.

I've started using this list for the past couple of games. Not too bad, but the Doom Reavers don't tend to stick around long and the rest is pretty slow overall.
Berserker and Kodiak run for free, IF usually goes on the MoW until it doesn't matter, then it goes on Butcher. Fury on whatever I need to kill something (P+S 17 MoW on the charge can take out jacks/beasts). Drakhun and Fenris team up on a flank, but I need to learn not to hang them out on turn 1.
    Points: 34/35

    The Butcher of Khardov (*6pts)
    * Berserker (6pts)
    * Kodiak (8pts)
    * War dog (1pts)
Doom Reavers (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
    Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
    Fenris (5pts)
    Man-o-war Drakhun (with dismount) (5pts)

WOW. Thanks for pointing out my serious math error.

I see where I went wrong: I noted the points for a full unit of 5 Shocktroopers, but I still only own 3 (planning to get 2 more to field a full unit).

So instead of swapping out the Shocktroopers for Mechaniks I'll just use the 3 points for Kovnik Joe and a War Dog.

Or you could just do that. Good luck at the tourney!

Trouble is.... If you bring Joe, it is not a tier list anymore - so you have to pay full price for the Shocktroopers, and you'd be 1 point short.

I think it is a brilliant idea however, and recommend it. Just loose one of the rocketeers. War dog adds so much to Butcher, and Joe takes the WGI over the top.

These tier lists can be a real PITA. Oh well - being a tier list was accidental to begin with.

I Always use the butcher with Kayazi assassins and boss I dislike the WG Death star, 'cause I'm always losing to much time with them.

    My list:

    Butcher +6
    Beast 11 (anti infantry 'Jack)
Bmoth 13 (bombard the enemy caster on feat turn )
    Kayazi Assassins + Boss 10
Gorman 2 (smoke to block LOS to Butch)
Aiyanna & Holt 4 (Magic attacks)
Wardog 1 (make Butch even harder to hit)

Or drop the last 2 and take:

Marksman 2 (that extra pow12 RNG14 sniper for those pesky solos)
e Eyriss 3 (to remove those pesky upkeep spells and animi and the extra focus on casters)

Or even just switch those with:

    Great Bears 5

    Plenty of options

Upgrade to 50 points: take all of the above and add:

    Fenris 5
