    Default Thagrosh2 questions - Assassination and Dragon's

Of those who play eThagrosh, do you ever send him in for the assassination himself? If so, do you typically:

    - Use the Harrier animus instead of boosting (4 auto-hits @ POW 18)
    - Use Scourge from exactly 2" away and risk the scatter also knocking you down (4 auto-hits @ POW 18)
    - Boost naturally
    - Only send him in if the target has otherwise been substantially weakened.

Also curious what model you put Dragon's Blood on. Himself or a heavy beast? I imagine an ARM 22 Carnivean would be great to field.

The model is in the mail, so I'm trying to get an idea of different ways to run him other than Shredder spam.

The harrier's animus is one use only, I do believe. Getting thagrosh within range of the other players caster means they are within 10in. Either they are already dead or nigh immune to assassination. If you think his army at that point doesn't stand a good chance of killing you if the attempt fails then go for it, but Thag2 is really good at enabling his army to smash face. He can do it too but is very vulnerable, so just make sure not to put him in a compromising position unless it's really worth it.

Dragon's blood is non-warlock I think. Always good to have an arm 22 Carni though!

The Harrier's animus may only be used a turn and I don't include one in my eThag's list, but if he's shed one or one has come out of the pot its better than boosting.

You can channel through a Spell Martyr that is 4" away for the same effect with none of the risks from a greater distance. This can enable Typhon assassisprations or open lanes for Rabid Shredders on feat turn.

Dragon's Blood is non-warlock model/unit, so eThag himself cannot benefit from it. Arm 22 Carnivean is a pretty tough nut to crack though

    Since the legal parts of the posts have been dealt with;

Typically no, unless I'm running out of options. There's little reason to commit a caster at such a great risk if I don't need to if a beast will do. If it's a low resilience caster its lined up with a great scourge, I may go for it if the scourge hits. If I do have a harrier (which is rare with him unless I brought the pot or bled one out), of course you use the animus if you would consider boosting on your charge attack. Same cost and 100% better.

ARM 22 Carnis are really good, ARM 19 and Exessive Typhons are also really good. I so wish he could tank up by leaving it on himself.

Thanks for the feedback. So far in Legion, I've been running Saeryn, pVayl, and Absylonia. eThag will add a bit more variety.

In my Protectorate army, I've had a lot of success with Thyra running her own assassinations, and am trying to find a similar play style in Legion. Rhyas is the closest, but not nearly as good at getting the job done herself. From there, it looks like eThagrosh has the next best chance of getting the job done.

For whatever reason, in my meta, people play their casters closer to the front. Many 6-focus, 6-fury caster who want to catch as much as they can in their feat, I guess.

Whenever I use eThags, I win most games by assassination - and the assassination run usually begins when I can do one of two things:

    1. Knock their caster down with a Raek's flying headbutt under Destiny, or
    2. Knock their caster down by channeling Scourge through a Martyr

From there I can either spray the caster to death with Typhon, Carny, and Thags, fly Thags in to finish them off in CC, and/or pop feat and let my beasts finish the job.

Thus far I've only gotten caster kills when they've been Sharded a bit. I think Manifest Destiny might work better than True Strike against all but the highest DEF targets.

I haven't played him in a while, but I'm wondering if the Scourge at point-black with the Neph Protector's animus is worth doing. You're blowing more than half of your fury, but all of your attacks hit and you get a random POW 13.

I rarely find myself needing true strike or boosts as manifest destiny tends to take care of the problem (granted come to think of it i havent charged any particularly high def casters with him... just xerxis, reznick and terminus... and LOTS of heavys ). I really dont find myself casting scourge very often due to the huge fury cost, but when you get the line on their caster go for it

Also, i like putting dragons blood on my legionnaires. It bumps their armor up just high enough to be a pain in the *** - especially with farilor's mini-feat. Though i am beginning to wonder if hes worth the points on a unit that's mostly there to feed the pot and be annoying
