A return to Skell?

So guys, I've been away from Cryx for about 7 months. Aside from one 35pt tourney, that I went like 4-1 or 3-2 in. I've only played a handful of SR2012 games with Cryx, cause I've been playing Legion (boring, sold them) and now Circle (who are superfun).

There's a Colossals event in my area in two months and I want to win a goddamn Kraken and a faction coin.

I'm thinking about picking up Cryx again for this event.

I need to be able to deal with Stormwalls and Creeping Barrage crap. I need to be able to deal with Menoth and Skorne with Tiberion. I have no idea who is good anymore.

So in your opinion, who are the best pair of casters to take at a 50pt event nowdays?

eGaspy and eSkarre are a solid pair. They are both good all round casters, who don't dabble in each others characters: Skarre gets Deathjack and Nightmare, while Asphyxious takes WSC and BLT.
Skarre is a solid assassination caster while Gaspy is good at (well everything, but mostly) attrition and against mass infantry (yay, Biles).

It's interesting, cause I haven't even thought about character restrictions with Cryx as yet. Choices, choices.

It's hard, but doable. You'll need a WWS to get some way of getting around Disruption. First turn, run up, get disrupted. Second turn, Nightmare gets a focus from Siren, combo-strikes the snot out of a preyed Stormwall. Deathjack gets 2 free focus and charges, making 2 boosted P+S 18 attacks. Use Perdition to get closer as needed, preferably while killing Stormsmiths, use feat. Make sure all the Stormsmiths are dead this turn. Turn 3 you can load up Nightmare and/or DJ (one might be disrupted by the Stormwall) and kill it, charge in Skarre if you really have to, she'll be behind a 5" rough terrain template, granting cover anyway.
Satyxis are already good with Skarre and taking a unit of Blood Witches + Hag is near-mandatory, if you're lucky you might even get a Dispel off on the Stormwall.
Pistol Wraiths and Gorman help with Colossal control.

Of course, eGaspy is better at this, since his feat can easily take down a Colossal, but he might be in trouble if your opponent brings 2.

It will Chill, Blind, or Shadowbind you out of a lot of problems with the big guys, while having the raw power needed to take them apart. The WSC can remove the upkeep spells but with Parasite, The Withering, Rust Bomb, and Dark Shroud available you should be able to grind through an Arcane Shielded Stormwall even if you lose Admonia (Bane Thralls do 12 damage each on average). If you do get AS off one then Snapjaw with just Parasite & Dark Shroud available does about 50 damage to it on a charge, more if you can walk in, and with either Withering or Rust Bombs he will take a Stormwall down if it loses Arcane Shield.

I'd say Blood Witches, but I think I'd prefer to maindeck them.

Looking through iBodger... yeah.. character restrictions ruin ALL my existing lists.

pDenny is a possibility, but my local meta has suddenly grown in Legion players. Our little living girl doesn't like Eyeless Sight. There's also a huge amount of Menoth players... spell ward is awful for her.

I could maybe play pGaspy. Parasite and Scything Touch for +5 STR.

The most likely candidates are casters I can already play. eDenny, eSkare, pSkarre, eGaspy. Let's breakdown the characters wanted by them.

eDenny - She wants Deathjack, Nyss, Dougal and BLT.
eGaspy - He wants BLT, Deathjack and WSC. Needs WSC for Iron Flesh.
pSkarre - She wants Nightmare, Darragh, Gerlak, BLT, Madelyn.
eSkarre - She wants Deathjack, Nightmare, Malice.

Everyone wants Gorman.
Everyone wants WSC.
Almost everyone wants Deathjack.
Almost everyone wants BLT.

pGaspy is my go- to guy for taking out Colossals.

Scything Touch + Parasite + Rust Bomb + random Bane for Dark Shroud = +9 to every damage roll for whatever you want to punch a Colossal in the face. Hell, even pGaspy himself can take out a Colossal in a single turn with that kind of buff.

He'd be swinging effectively a P+S 24 with 10-12 attacks, depending on what's upkept or cast by a Skarlock.

Yep, that will totally work, if you ignore all of the basic maths involved in it and rely on blind luck

I'm actually pretty grateful none of the local Cygnarans run pHaley.

She is the most unfun caster in the game.

But yeah. Spent an hour on Vassal talking through/building lists with a friend. I've got a couple lists to try out.

Something like 12.3 seconds per model per turn is kinda balls.

Here is what you do, you get a kraken (obviously by way of ordering a helldiver and the shipper giving you a Kraken) and you have eShade phantom hunter it, and you just shoot the enemy caster to death.

eDenny can work with Nightmare instead of Deathjack, though not as much fun, tossing out 2 Hellmouths per turn. She could go the Satyxis rather than Bane route and thus wouldn't need BLT.
eGaspy doesn't really need DJ, take 1 node for when you really want to get Excarnate off, DJ doesn't offer much for him beside that.
pSkarre might miss the threat range BLT brings, but doesn't need his help to hit, can work without. Nightmare is nice with her, but not sure if she needs it.
eSkarre could do with any combination of 2 of those. I find playing 3 heavies with her to be very focus intensive. My choice goes to DJ and Nightmare.

Deneghra2 is so good with the kraken I have a hard time not playing it. I take Nyss + Steelhead riflemen with her as well.
Asphyxious2 needs two nightwretches, that is all.
Skarre1 with Tartarus is amazing, although madelyn isn't needed, neither is darragh or gerlak.
Building Skarre2 to spam perdition is typically easy to play against.

/Shrug... it's just debuff/buff stacking...with a caster with a feat that can have a huge output turn...
Though it doesn't change if they can end the game or not. Not too surprising... it's about the same output as pSkarre...except she can help the Kraken hit better, while pGaspy won't help with hitting.

Heh, that's eGaspy for you. I remember doing that on bottom of turn 1 vs Cygnus on Vassal (he ran his caster up full distance, lol)... turn 1 wins feel so good.
