Default Army Painter Magic Superglue Activator

This stuff is incredible. Cut down the time of putting a gator posse together by about an hour.

I am just a little concerned about spraying chems onto a surface I am about to apply paint to.

Had any one had any experience, and Does it affect paint adherence?

    Cheers guys.

I've used adhesive accelerants for years on my models. Never noticed any issue with paint going on it.

I've been using the army painter accelerant for about 6 months and never had a problem with it. The stuff evaporates.

You spray it on super glue joint you made, and it hardens a lot faster. The drawback is that the joint is a lot weaker that way. I personally don't use it. Similar effect is achieved when you score the surfaces you want to glue with a hobby knife. Glue has more surface to adhere to and dries faster, plus it remains full strength

I've used tiny (very very tiny!) bits of green stuff to help bonds seal fast. The green stuff basically cures and hardens and also binds the join in seconds, it won't affect all the glue, only the bit in contact with the green stuff. However its generally strong enough to hold the join whilst the rest of the glue dries. Giving you a good strength bond provided that you only use a tiny bit of green stuff; which is great as you don't have to sit there holding a spiky angelius wing in place for ages.

The easiest way is to glue the opposite part of the one you put glue on.

It doesn't make the bond fragile nor breakable (unless you drive your minis unprotected in a corn field to get to your LGS), unlike water which has a similar effect, it makes the glue hard on the ourside and gooey on the inside. So everything is tight.

I glued 10 Bane Knights in 25 minutes thanks to that, including their vicious backspikes.

It has absolutely no influence on paint as it dries out without residue.

Yeah I do the same when I don't feel like finding my spray-excellerant or my glue doesn't bond in a few seconds UmbrellaCorp.

Hatchmarking the model helps a ton as well.

What about health issues? I've used Zipkicker in the past, but that stuff is foul beyond words...you feel your brain cells dying by the dozen each time you use it. Any info on Activator and your health?

Use it in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors. Or read the warning label, it's smarter than I am.

Accelerant smells terrible and the smell stays on your fingers.

It does weaken the joint to a degree, but not to the extent that I'd call it "brittle". Maybe "breaks from a shorter fall than it would otherwise".

All in all, I hate the stuff. :P

Me too. Have done for annoying joints that give me trouble for over a decade. Same effect as accelerant, it's free, and there's an inexhaustable supply...

I have had this stuff for years. I can tell you that it does make the joint more brittle. Try this..glue a mini onto a plastic base, then glue another mini using accelerant. Wait a day. Then try snapping it off the base. The one with the accelerant will "break" off much easier. In fact this is what I use it for now, a temp bond while I paint. I then bust the mini off and apply it to whatever base I have finished. Just my 2 cents.

Baking Powder works wonders. It turns into concrete haha. I love the stuff and used it many times with no drawbacks, other than when I spilled the box of powder on my pants.....

i HIGHLY suggest unscrewing the top, and using the tube as a applicator. it gets it exactly where you want it, and if you have more glue to put down, you dont have to worry about putting it in a place you just sprayed. it also lasts infinitely longer, as you dont waste all the spray on just a little drop of glue.

if you do do this, id also suggest getting a 2" by 2" peice of plastic, maybe from the back of those blister you just bought, and apply it to the bottom of the container. this way, it wont spill when you go to dip the tube back in the container.

One of the best parts I find is for gluing painted models back together, no glue mist on the paint around the join also no flesh. stupid glue
