    Default hex hunter question

Are the a solid counter to massed single wound infantry? I ask because in my last few games with pvayl I've been swamped by loads of them. I do lack typhon, but I currently don't want more hate for taking him.

Anyhow I figured with her feat I could maybe alpha strike and then hit again, and with chiller hit most of the time.

Battlewizard does get you a lot of mileage out of the hex hunters, but I always found them to be most effective when I charged with 3, then next turn charged with another 3, and then on the next turn charged with the remainder. You don't want to fully commit with them. Keep the waves coming.

Hex-Hunters are a great all around unit, including against Infantry. A full advance + Hex Bolt is a 13" threat range which should out threat most melee infantry. Their Stealth, meanwhile, is a hard counter to most shooting. And at DEF: 14, they're no slouches even if something can put them in the cross-hairs.

Load them up via proxy for a bit, if your gaming group allows it.

Hex Hunters are good enough to be a solid pick up as light melee cleaner.

They're great at clearing out infantry and work VERY well with pVayl. Chiller does wonders for them. Don't let the haters get to you about Typhon, he's really only ever used with pVayl and occasionally Absylonia.

awesome, ill proxy them this weekend and see how things go. Currently it will just be a straight swap...a min unit for the BFS. Would it be a good idea to try to squeeze out 3 more points for Bayal or just stick with the hex hunters?

I like him with pLylyth, as well. A bonus die to spray attacks is powerful. A bonus die to spray attacks against a target under parasite is deadly. And there's a strong case for Thagrosh, too, either version.

I quite like a Max unit without Bayal, as I tend to find he is not worth the 3pt price tag. That may just be that he looks scary on paper so opponents try to deal with him asap, but I tend to find he doesn't get to add a lot. The main thing you miss from him is advanced deployment, which let's the unit get up the board really quickly. As mentioned, with Chiller up they are effective MAT9 and can put a lot of pain on medium-def medium/low-armour infantry, and threaten higher-arm infantry with their Hex bolt.

I like them with pThagrosh. A full unit with Bayal, give them +2 strength, and let them smash into frontline infantry. P+S 12+3D6 can hurt a lot and a few Pow 13s afterwards can and have, cleaned up a whole 10x man units.

Defensively fog of war bumps their Def to annoying levels if your opponents do get close enough to bypass stealth.

Don't let others influence what you use in your lists . it is a game of strategy, tactics, and fun ( not necessarily in that order) but you need to build lists that can accomplish all three.

I've used Hex Hunters a few times. usually in bigger games. i still haven't gotten the feel for them. so i use the Swordsmen over hex hunters, but when i do use the HH's they don't let me down.

If people are actually hating you for your list in this game, they're bad at the game.

I find it hard to believe you are getting more hate than your local Cryx players.

I like the hunters in the 50 pt rng but in the lower pt rng the Leg tend to perform better IMO.

I just got B&B along with a unit of Hex Hunters and Gators. Really excited to try both units out with B&B and am thinking about adding Raptors or Striders for Blood Thorn. Three units of infantry may be a bit of overkill though and leaves me with space for only two heavies. Am I going a bit too heavy on the infantry here?

Depends on how you play. i personally use more Infantry than Beasts and I Never do Tier Lists. i find it fun, and challenging all at the same time. so long as your beasts provide enough furry for your caster ( and a little more just incase one dies ( beast not caster)) you should be okay. and whichever unit you get ( Raptors or Striders) you will be happy. they are both good units. i typically run them both in a list. even at 35 pts.

Unless you play Cryx or Legion. Dragons gain their power from people raging at their army lists
