Default Assault Timing and other effects

A warcaster with assault (Irusk) barrels forward at the enemy,

At the end of his move, he is not in melee with the enemy targeted by his charge,
but within Counter-charge of the enemy.

    1. Can the warcaster cast spells before resolving his assault ranged attack?

    2. When does counter-charge activate?

    3. If the counter-charge model charges the warcaster, and was the warcaster's initial target, does the warcaster's charge therefore succeed? (After the caster's movement, but before their attack, the model was in their melee range... although the caster's movement did end with the target out of melee... )

    4. Can the warcaster pop feat? when?

1.) No, the warcaster cannot cast spells. Once Irusk has failed his charge, his activation is about to end. The only thing that is extending is is the assault ranged attack. Basically, an effect said "your activation ends, but first, do X". That does not mean "do anything else you like".

2.) Counter charge triggers when it says it triggers, when he ends his movement. So before the assault shot.

3.) No, the charge does not succeed. You did not have the target in melee range at the end of your movement.

4.) No, activation is over. You cannot pop your feat after a failed charge before your activation ends, and assault does not change that.
    Play.

if the charge had succeeded... does that change the ability to cast spells or feat before shooting?
