Default Questions on 3Vlad's feat and how it works on a cavalry charge

Played a game the other day and I ended up doing something that I am not 100% sure was the right way to do it so I wanted to ask so I can correct myself in the future if I was wrong.

During 3Vlad's feat turn all cavalry and warjacks within his control area get Side Step and Sprint.

If I charge in with a cavalry model and get into B2B contact with the charge target I am allowed an impact attack prior to the actual charge attack.

Question 1: Am I allowed the Side Step if I hit with the impact hit?
Question 2: If the answer to question 1 above is yes, does it take place prior to, or after, conducting the charge attack?
Question 3: If you kill a target during your melee attack do you get a combination of the Side Step and Sprint (i.e. 2" Side Step move for hitting the model and then a full advance move for actually killing him)?

    1. No, impact attacks are not initial attacks.
    2. N/A
    3. You can trigger both Side Step and Sprint, but keep in mind those resolve at different times.

Thanks for the quick response. Your answer to question to #1 means I played that wrong and will have to correct for the future.

As to your answer to #3 I do understand they trigger at two different times, Side Step when you hit, and Sprint after you kill a model. However, wouldn't the end result still be the same?

For example, I charge in with my cavalry model and end up hitting and ultimately killing the Cygnar Trencher. This would mean when I actually hit the Trencher I would be entitled to the 2" Side Step. Since the model is not officially dead it means that I would have to maneuver around the model instead of moving straight through it (correct?). After I have done the 2" move I will roll the damage and once it has been determined that the model was killed I would be able to make a full advance. Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance.

Side Step triggers on hit, but you do not move until after the attack is resolved.

Sprint triggers on destroyed, but you do not move until the end of your activation.

So, you can move via Side Step between initial attacks, for example, but the move from Sprint will be the last thing you do in your activation.

Thanks. That is what I was thinking just not saying it exactly as you did.

Also, rereading your example, it is incorrect. You would not "have to maneuver around" the model you hit and you would not do so prior to rolling damage, since, as mentioned, Side Step says "after the attack is resolved," which is after damage has been rolled and applied.

Thanks. I only mentioned maneuver around since I was thinking you would have to make the side step movement prior to rolling the damage since it mentioned once you "hit" the target.

    Thanks once again.
