    Default Threat-Range/Baiting Tactics

Hey folks. I'm still trying to get into the swing of things with Gators, and one of the few skills I think I'm still bad at is baiting. Posses seem ideal for baiting, especially if you run Maelok, and can bring back the gator that goes down, but I never seem to know when to bait. I'd be happy to hear some baiting and effective use of Threat-Range tips if you have any for each Caster. I'm just looking for opinions on when you bait, what are some of the best models/units to use baiting against, and what should I be thinking as I advance so I don't forget to bait.

Also, if you could do your best to describe how you move/Position your bait that would help a lot too (Eg, "I put one Gator way out in front just inside command and the rest behind, or I build a well distanced string of trogs and monopolize on reach and charge bonuses). Talks for your time and thoughts everyone.

I've used my snappers to bait at times, leaving them in a situation where they need to deal with it or face it charging through to dangerous territory.

I've been trialling my swamp horror as bait, backed up by a GMP. Since ranged against the SH is reduced it means they tend to charge in and are open to a GMP counter charge.

GMP with a Boneswarm are just awesome for baiting. You're effective def 18 and arm 18 on the charge (without buffs).

Wow. How do you get the Gators up to Def 18? I thought swarm would only improve to reduce incoming chargers Mat by -2. I'm guessing throw down the +1 Def/Terror Prayer to start, make sure swarm is up, but that's only an effective +3.

Barny is only 16 by my count, but boneswarms would finish the job. You would need two to cover the posse

I've seen Gator players cluster the Posse around the Boneswarm, for what it's worth. That way you only need the one

Wrongeye and Snapjaw frequently serve as bait in my games, usually not on purpose, but it always seems to work out in the end for me. I wish I could tempt someone with a Posse member, but my local group tends to avoid the Posse if they can...

Signature stolen from Rotfell until he asks me to change it...

How did I get into this hand basket, and why is it so hot?

Whatever you offer up as bait has to be tempting enough for them to go for it, but not so tempting you can't afford to lose it. I've got into the habit of trying to position things just outside of charge range, sometimes that gets me into trouble. Last game I put Maelok just outside of Vlad3's charge range (with a not insubstantial line of stuff in the way) forgetting that he has Dash ... and that Madame Cordebeau was on the table. Thankfully one Trog made his tough check against Vlad's impact attack and left him flapping in the wind, but if he'd made it through I only had one transfer to burn. It was feat turn and the dice were a little against him, but it was still too close for comfort.

The above is my personal opinion, and in no way should be taken as representative of the overall Skorne community. Even when I claim otherwise.
Skorne on date ... when did Primal Mk I hit again?

I wish we had something that gave/allowed us to get Target friendly faction model/unit gains Vengeance because wow would that ever be brutal on Gatorman Posse and really cause people to think twice before charging gators.
