    Awesome stuff everyone!!

I'm new to WM and picked decided to go Shae's tier list right away.. Not having much luck with him at the moment but I'm still tweaking the list.

I do have a quick question though, can Lord Rockbottom use Paymaster to give the same unit of Sea Dogs two different incentives (i.e. Walk it off & Payday)?

    Yes. Yes he may.

Paymaster - During this modelʼs activation, you can mark one or more coin boxes on its card. For each coin box you mark, you
can use Paymaster once. When you do, choose one of the following incentives. Incentives are RNG CMD and can target only
friendly Sea Dog units. A Sea Dog unit can be affected by an incentive only once per turn. When all five of its coin boxes have
been marked, this model loses Paymaster for the rest of the game.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble here, but chances that the Talion will get anything new are pretty slim. We'll probably see a Steelhead or a Dwarven Battle Engine before the Pirates get one.

A man can hope though, can't he?

It's probably been said, but Pirates need an Black Ogrun Boarding party equivalent. I find that there's no units that we have that can effectively deal with heavy armor. Kharchev and his battlegroup are the antithesis of the Talion charter. Not that there isn't any shenanigans that can be pulled, but you must now rely on shenanigans, mistakes, and openings to win, rather than going toe-to-toe and waiting for the opening.

Played recently against a Cygnar, then Legion list. Waffle stomped against Cygnar (Kraye). Got Waffle stomped against Legion (Vayl).

If someone can post how they effectively deal with Khador (shenanigans or what have you) or other heavy lists, that would be awesome.

I use all manner of shananigans with my Fiona list. Primary method of getting rid of heavies is charge in with Freebooter, double up the Clamp attacks and either (a) throw the heavy at another near-by heavy which equals two knocked down jacks or (b) throw the heavy into my back lines. Once the jack is down (and probably a little scratched up) charge in with the Sea Dogs. The mess of gang-attacks, hitting automatically tears stuff up.

In large games throw the jack over to another Freebooter and tear the thing to shreds with Wrecker.

If you can't get the jack on the ground, then I have Fiona Afflict the thing. Repeat the charge with the Sea Dogs. Every hit is a point of damage. That's a whole lot of scratches punctuated by the random Charge attack that gets through for some real damage.

What doesn't work is trying to cannon down a heavy warjack. Use the cannons to clear the way and the Sea Dogs will surprise you with their ferocity.

A shae gorten list is not possible.
shea will only work for the talion charter or his personal theme list.
gorten is not included in the talion charter.
there are only 2 casters shae can work with and its bart or fiona.
to do that combo though, you are going to need a lot of pirates.

For Shae & Bart you need more Nomads than Pirates. And it will be glorious.

Is there any use for Eyris in Shae army ( I just got NQ model and I'd like to use it somehow) ?

You won't be able to field Eiryss in a Shae force, as she is not a Privateer.

If it says Gunnery is cumulative (which it is IIRC) than yes! Each model makes their own (*)Action and it doesn't require an order.

What Warcaster do you recommend for the Steamroller if now I play Shae and I'd like to choose from Fiona and Bart?

Feelin' the Shae love! Played two 50pt games (Shae tier 4), I won them both (Caster kill) on the start of the second turn!! I used to think Shae didn't have much of a closer. I was WRONG!

He hits surprisingly hard and surprisingly fast, I love putting him down on the table and then screaming across it with a bunch of yelling & screaming pirates. Did you by chance get your hands on the commodore cannon yet?

Cannon is GREAT - you'll see this after 5-10 games - it really needs some skill to use, but after some mastering - no one will ever say that 4 points is better spent somewhere else. My 1st buy was Shae+Hawk+ Commodore - best spent money on WM ever just add Rockbotom. I'm still waiting for Ayana& Holt - to try some magic :-)

Oh yes, I have all the pirates. I finished the 'Pirates of the Broken Coast' when they first came out in MK1 (quite a blow, by the way).

Hey guys. I'm considering starting Talion charter, and this thread has been been really helpful. Now, I was just wondering if anyone could provide me with a good run-down of the different 'jacks available to us, or a link to something similar. Thanks!

Sorry I never got around to that, it's something I wanted to do but I really didn't get enough experience with Fiona to put it together without feeling I was blowing smoke. Have you tried using her yet? What were your experiences like?

I just used Fiona on Tuesday. I had an undefeated record with her in Mk. I. Good start in Mk. II. I was curious about a trick of hers, and wanted to determine if it was worth the 16 points. Apparently, a 19"-ranged magical cannonball that ignores other models slamming into Kara Sloan's face was enough to give the Cygnar player pause. Didn't kill her outright, but it did force her to concentrate on that Mariner, leaving her a bit exposed to a Telgesh'ed model walking up and spouting Soulfire at her.

However, is the 16 points (18 if you included MacNaille) of ATGM + UA and a marshalled Mariner worth it in a 25 point game? That takes up a huge chunk of potential infantry slots, and I'm terrible at theorymachine.

I thought I'd bump this for various questions. I came upon a copy of the Pirate Book and I've been reading the fluff (just at the part where the Cryxian fleet is approaching). I like the Pirate Warcasters, but I'm still debating on which of the 3 Merc groups (Pirates, Dwarfs, non-Pirates) should I go with (I like each for different reasons, but Rhul is ahead by just a bit yet they have no awesome Colossal ). I like how they look too and the Galleon, it is so Piraty...
But when I look at the Sea Dog units, I get bummed down as they're not as cool. So a few questions:
    - Galleon, how awesome is it with each of the Warcasters?
    - Convince me Sea Dig units (Crew and PGs) are good, i think they're just ok...
    - How competitive are Privateers in general?
    - What infantry besides Privateers are good with the Pirate Warcasters?
    - Thoughts on the new Shae Tier in the May NQ?

The thing about the Sea Dogs and PG is that they really want their solos to be good. Think of them as our version of a Winterguard deathstar. I run them as a 24 point (20 under shea tier) package and they always pull their weight. PG are an amazing tarpit with the solos and Sea Dogs are pretty nasty meele fighters as well as passable shots.
For I am The Ruiner of Games, and I have set my baleful eye upon Warmachine. Look in my wake and you shall see both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k. Tremble with fear as you see the mangled corpses of miniatures games piled high from countless years of slaughter.

Sea Dogs are a dismal MAT 5, POW 9 and a POW 10.
    Gang.. hmm - MAT 7, POW 11.
Wait, what's this Pay Day ability? +d6 to hit with Melee attacks? MAT 7 + 3d6 = average 17.5!?! and OVERTAKE?
Hey, who's this Hawk thing and what does Object of Desire do? POW 11 + 4d6 charge attacks on warrior models? Average POW 25 hit?!?

Pressgangers only get one attack though - but at +2 POW.. so average POW 27 on a caster if they hit them? Well, not on Karchev but meh. Oh dear, Karchev is a hard counter to Privateers. I weep.

Straight up, they put casters down for a dirt nap. It took 3 pressgangers and Hawk (with Storm Rager on her) to put a camping eKreoss in the bag. And they did put him in the bag, he went down to a RFP effect (pressganger gang hand weapon strike).

Are they good.. Pfff. They are GREAT.

Oh, they're only RAT 4 POW 10 RNG 8? Hmm..
Oh, Money Shot (cue snickers) - RAT 6 POW 12. Aiming? RAT 8. Hey, that's actually ok! Wait, the unit has 12 of these shots? AND a POW 15 RAT 11 (Aiming CRA)... hmm. That's not bad - for a FIRST STRIKE MELEE UNIT.

Ok I'm done. They're pretty ok.
Also the Commodore is RAT 10 with money shot. So there.
Yes, they're competitive. Or Shae's theme force is anyway.

    Galleon is extensively commented elsewhere.
Shae likes the mobile guns, though his feat doesn't work some of his other spells are made for it.
Fiona likes the big blocker and the guns.
Bart.. ooohhhhh.. Bart and this thing have synergy out the yardarm. Not very exciting synergy since it involves clonking your way across the board (walk shoot tank repeat), but they are GOOD together.
