I did some conversions on my second unit of Fire Eaters to avoid duplicate models. Here is a comparison with the original models. No huge conversions but they look distinct imo.

Looking good, Trollock. Avoiding duplication is something I appreciate.

I've seen a reposed Thunderhead in here at least once. Does anyone have any tips/explanations for reposing his arms?

I could have sworn that I'd posted these somewhere on this site before, but couldn't find them.
Here's my Stormwall mod, with more "believable" weapon locations... and articulation. And a scratch-built
Lightning Pod for the silo built into his back. I may have gone overboard...

I used Circle Tharn to create "Feral Nyss" which I use as Legion of Everblight Croak Raiders.

I converted two Arcanist Mechaniks (on the right):

    Changed Sylys Wyshnalyrr's legs:

And gave Magister Helynna a pulled back mohawk:

Pretty simple stuff here, just some weapon removal and arm reposing, plus the table and poorly-sculpted bottle. Unfortunately he's not legal without TO permission because he's missing one of his blades.

    Nice.

Could make that tournament legal by putting a holstered handcannon on his belt, I think.

Or placing it on the table next to the bottle!

As said bottle will attest, I do not believe my greenstuff abilities are up to snuff. Maybe I can make it but not glue it, and then only set it on the table of the TO rejects.

Hm. Looking through the PP store, you could order a spare arm-with-pistol, but they all have arms attached and you'd need to be able to remove the hand. As you say, your bottle gives some idea of your skill level, trying to carve out a new grip would probably be more than you want to try. However...you could cut off the arm at the wrist, file down the hand as much as you can, then use green stuff to cover the gun partly with a discarded napkin.

Looks like there's a holstered Steelhead Heavy Cav gun in the parts store, snip the stock and replace it with the blade that came off Garryth's hand, should be good for placing on either Garryth or the table.

Or because he's definitely more than half an original Privateer Press miniature, you could just grab a holstered pistol from any bits box - I'm sure that an ex-40k player has dozens lying around. Still legal.

So because I accidentally got two Lancers and no Fireflies in my starter box, I decided to convert one of them into a Thorn. Because it was plastic, I figured that making him into a more 'actiony' pose was the way to go and converted him to be sprinting - some cutting, some pins, and he looks...

About the only thing I was unhappy with was the sculpt job on the swan's wing for his shoulder shield, and I ended up making it more battle damage.

Old thread, but I thought I'd share one of my old figures from years back.

This Brute Thrall was the first time I'd set out to make a modification that I knew would need significant sculpting pull off.

Both arms had to be cut off at the "wrist" right below the fist so they could be rotated and pinned in their new positions.

The right arm, however, had to be cut again in order to create an elbow for the pose I wanted. On the original sculpt there isn't actually an elbow, so I ended up using a 90 degree bent pin and then sculpted greenstuff to create the elbow entirely from scratch.

On the left had, it took some very, very careful work with a jeweler's saw to separate the index finger so I could bend it out to make him point.

I also filed off the bottom of the left foot (this was one of the original all-metal models) so I could sculpt the little detail of the metal brace and foot position.

Nothing too crazy here, but after giving this Slayer a "come at me, bro" pose, I decided on an impulse to give him a lower jaw, so he ended up with a bit of a beak.
