So, after years of letting my smallish Khador force lie around gathering dust, I got a look at Strakhov and gave in. I've decided to start a small Strakhov army, using the Tiers to keep me from splurging on expensive stuff like Beast 09 or Man-O-War units, plus I like the flavor element and the challenge. So far, I've got Strakhov, a few jacks from the old days, Widowmakers, and a Manhunter. Before I buy anything else, though, I was curious if what I'm thinking of running is any good. Here's my Tier 4 plan for 35 points:

Kommander Strakhov (+6)
-Destroyer (9)
-Kodiak (8)

Assault Kommandos x6 (5)
Assault Kommandos x10 (8)
Kazazy Assassins x6 (5)
-Kazazy Assassin Underboss (2)
Widowmakers (4)

Manhunter (Free, Tier 3 Bonus)
----------------
41 Points (35 + 6 Jack points)

Since it can run for free, the Kodiak is a Focus-efficient 'jack, who should shine with Superiority up. The Destroyer makes for a rugged, long-ranged AOE Sentry. The Kazazy have an insane threat range on the feat turn, especially with the Underboss kicking in. The Kommandos are the vanguard -- and they get me trenches!

By the time I get the 35-point list painted up, I figure the Flamethrower WA should be out. That makes it time to upgrade to 50 points:

Kommander Strakhov (+6)
-Destroyer (9)
-Kodiak (8)

Assault Kommandos x10 (8)
Assault Kommandos x6 (5)
-3 Assault Kommando Flamethrowers (3)
Assault Kommandos x6 (5)
-3 Assault Kommando Flamethrowers (3)
Kazazy Assassins x6 (5)
-Kazazy Assassin Underboss (2)
Widowmakers (4)

Manhunter x2 (4)
Widowmaker Marksman (Free, Tier 3)
----------------
56 Points (50 + 6 Jack points)

That gives me three solid units of , Assault Kommandos, three trenches on the board, and nothing dropped from the 35-point list to be "upgraded" to something better at 50.

I dislike the idea of upgrading the Kazazy to a full unit, specifically because they are rather allergic to blast damage; having played with Crowe's Cutthroats under Magnus, I am well aware of how squishy ARM 11 is, even with Stealth. The Kommandos look like a more survivable investment -- and besides, I don't like the Assassins' models enough to paint 11 of them.

Look solid?
