    Default Nooby pButcher Help

Hey new guy here. I played a local charity tournament with a super jack heavy butcher list just to get a hang of the game, but now I'm trying to fine tune my list. This is what a I have right now.

    pButcher +6
    -Beast-09 11
    -Kodiak 8
    -Behemoth 13

    Greatbears of Gallowswood 5

This leaves me with about 4 points worth of troops and solos. I'm just not sure what to take. Mechanics might be decent the 3 jacks being in the list. I'm just afraid they will die too easily. Was also thinking Widowmakers to pepper the enemy and soften up jacks. I don't know too much about Greylords Terion, but they are also 4 points. Solos might work in the list. Koldun Lord might be good, if it is worth marshaling a jack to him. Anyway, just looking for advice right now.

You can't go too wrong with Widowmakers. They're a self-sufficient unit that doesn't need too much support and can be a bear for your opponent. But if you're looking for volume, Winter Guard might be a good choice for high-POW combined ranged attacks. A unit of six costs 4 points, and you can cast Iron Flesh on them to make them more tricky to hit. Or, if you want a mix of sneaky sniping and melee power, a Widowmaker Marksman and a Manhunter even out at 4 points, and give you two Advance Deploy models that can distract and disorient your opponent.

Honestly, though, you've got two enormously expensive jacks in Beast and the Behemoth. If you did something as simple as dropping the Behemoth down to a Destroyer (thereby giving you a smaller, slightly less overwhelming jack that still has the Behemoth's mix of range and brawling power), you'd go from having 4 points free to 8 points, which would give you many more options. For example, you could get a six-man unit of Boomhowler & Co., a very survivable tarpit unit with all-important medium bases to keep the Butcher out of sight of the enemy, for only 6 points, leaving you 2 extra for a Manhunter, Marksman, or what-have-you. 8 points gets you 10 Winter Guard with the Unit Attachment, a 12-man infantry unit with a wide variety of attack options that can get a very high DEF with the Butcher's Iron Flesh up. 8 points can also net you a full unit of Assault Kommandos, who boast a very high volume of attacks -- a very nice thing when the Butcher pops his feat. Just some more options to consider.
