Default Fennblades delayed (til Dec. 4th?)

Its probably isn't news to most of you that these guys aren't out yet. They were supposed to hit the shelves last Wednesday if anyone didn't know. I didn't really care what they did in MkII, they looked cool enough that I was going to buy them anyway. Looks like I won't have to worry about that anymore.

The date comes from Dungeon Trader which emails me every few weeks ever since I bought some stuff from them ages ago. I don't have any way whatsoever to verify it.

Wow, never even got to use their Mk1 rules. That's kinda sad in a way.

Booooooo. I really want to use them right now.
Yes, this is the real Sevwall. The forum change is keeping me out of my account temporarily.

C'mon, is this really so bad? A little while ago most people were talking about how they were going to hold off on buying them until the Field Test anyway. I was certainly going to wait, and now I don't even have to feel bad about it.

I ordered them specifically with the field test in mind. IE, I love the models so much that I wanted to use them tonight at my store's all-night MKII field test.

I heard they are being shipped out this week. But that we won't have them in stores in the UK til mid next week.

So 4th doesn't sound far off at all.

I didn't really want them for MK1, but was really keen to have them on the ground floor for the MK2 games.

    Thumbs down Plastic

Not sure how I feel about the plastics? Anyone want to sell me on it?

    Cheap

    Cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap
    Oh and cheap.

Do you wanna pay up to $60 U.S. for a box of 6 metal dudes?

Oh, well how about $60 for a whole unit in ONE box?

OK. So... Metal = substance. Plastic = breakage or am I wrong? Not being argumentative, I just don't get it. Now if you tell me they are easier to glue then I'll get on the bus.... Gluing models sucks. Also, $.05 worth of plastic for $60...hmmm.

As for the Fennblades, the models look cool, but stats look ...well...meh.

My friend owns the bastions, and he said they were an absolute piece of cake to assemble, a little bit of cleaning with a modelling knife required but otherwise easy.

Also the plastic PP use seems to be quite resilent to damage and looks great too!

Plastic bounces, metal bends or breaks.
If a metal piece snaps (rather than coming off at the intended joint), it'll probably need a pin to fix.
PP plastics do still need superglue and would seem to effectively glue like metals, though. They tell me the little lugs that the pieces join at are better on the plastic kits, if that helps any.

A friend of mine has them and had them assembled in 5 minutes after he purchased them. They are resilient, easy to assemble and possess the same level of exquisite detail I would expect from a Privateer model. The only real difference is the weight of the object itself.

Ok, I'm getting there. I still wish they were better in the stat department.

I'm sorry but this kind of logic always infuriates me. Surely you must know that what you are paying for is the cost to pay the sculptor, the cost to pay the mold maker, the cost to make the mold, the cost to pay for the artist who designed and laid out the box, the cost for the artist to design and lay out the card, the cost to print the box, the cost to print the card, the cost to pay the guy who painted the studio models, the cost to ship it... There's probably at least a dozen other little fees in there that I am missing and they all add up faster than you could imagine.

If it was as simple as marking up the cost of raw plastic by 120,000% all the investment bankers on Wall Street would get out of the stock market and make miniature wargame companies of their own.

Oh and they are $50 not $60. Unless of course that's the Canadian price. But both the people who mentioned $60 are U.S. residents so I don't know where that number came from.

    agreed.

only really overcosted model from PP is Drago and that's for Khador.

initial plastic molds are a decent investment and plastics can be expensive.

This is why the plastics come from China. Those expenses are much lower there.

Ok... no need to get upset, or explain the economics. I'm an accountant, I get it. My point is that plastic is a cheaper raw material, and it should be reflected in the cost. Relax.

    Maybe that's why it is.
