    Default Brawl XGL

The first game of the Brawl XGL took place tonight, with the mighty Ironhead Destroyers taking on the Northern Boilers in the Destructodome. A frantic first half, had the Destroyers up 3-0. With shots raining in from all over. However the game turned very defensive in the second half, with a single goal a piece. The Destroyers walking away with a 4-1 win and no damage.

The starting lineup for the Ironhead Destroyers was

    1 The Terminator - Crusher - Wreck-o-matic & Fist
    2 The Destroyer - Crusher - Pulverizer & H Grappler
    3 Mr Interceptor - Runner - Interceptor & Fist
    4 Bam Bam - Runner - Gyro & Fist
    5 Magneto - Runner - Magno-grip & Fist

    Crew: Maintenance

    Sponsor Western Armory

Nice report. What was your opponents lineup, if you remember.

Your team looks very much like the one I will be running. The Imperial Iron Wolves.

    From memory his lineup was

    Crusher - Pulveriser & Fist
    Crusher - Wreck-o-matic & Fist
    Runner - Double Fist
    Runner - Scrambler & Fist
    Runner - Magno-grip & Fist

Maitenance crew and Strangeways Techs sponsor.

The lack of the Interceptor on his goalie, really hurt him.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the different crew's and sponsors will effect all the teams.

Two more games played in the BRAWL XGL League!

Round 1: Stainless Standard v Steam Bay Slayers

A brutal game, in which the Slayers suffered five damaged systems, the Standard four themselves. Likely this violence was a result of both players finding their way with the rules, often foregoing the subtler nuances of the game in favour of direct confrontation.

Scoring was light in the first half, with the Standard taking the full five turns to sink the grinder. Second half saw the Slayers make several bold forays into the opposition's goal zone, but with little success, the Standard scoring twice more to win the match 3-0.

Round 2: Stainless Standard v Northern Boilers

Another slow first half that had the Standard labouring to take the grinder downfield, the Boilers holding the centre and refusing to budge. Despite the fierce melee there was little damage to either side, and the half saw the Standard up 1-0.

Second half, and the Boilers made some bold attacking moves with the grinder, using it first to knock down their opponent's Jacks, and then hammering it goal-ward. Fortunately, the Standard's dedicated defensive Runner (Bauer) was in top form, stopping the grinder in it's tracks not once, but twice. Caught off-guard, the Boilers themselves set for defence, but were unable to stop the Standard from breaking through.

With this pattern of play repeated throughout the half, the Standard came away with a 4-1 win.

... and as real life returns to somewhat normal levels of sanity.. I've updated the website! http://xglwa.wordpress.com

Well, after many false starts I finally managed to swing my own GRIND Round 1 game against Warpstone's "Magnificent Marauders".

It was a slow start as I came back up to speed with the rules, but once the Krushers got rolling ... 3-0 win to the Red Team. I think the highlight for me (aside from winning ) was pulverising on of his Crusher's so hard it's cortex ended up in it's boots

    I've started with;
    Crusher - Pulveriser & Fist
    Crusher - Wreck-o-matic & Fist
    Runner - Interceptor & Fist
    Runner - Gyroshot & Fist
    Runner - Magnogrip & Fist
Arcanist crew and Strangeways Tech Sponsor

Still considering upgrades, although at this stage I think I'm likely to really pump up my crew.
    Cheers

Just noticed that all the first round winners so far have team logos, and the losers do not.

    Coincidence??? I think not. :P
