Default Measuring a throw power attack

According to p. 12 of the Grind rulebook, you must "[choose] a space within 5 spaces of the attacker and within its line of sight." The illustration at the bottom of the page shows the red player "marking a space 5 spaces away from the Grinder" (emphasis mine). Which is correct? For now, I'm siding with the rules because illustrations aren't rules. But it's rather confusing. Any opinions?

I can't check right now, but the illustrations in the grind rulebook are important.
For instance it's a pic that shows that even when the grinder moves on diagonals only the first one costs 1, the rest cost 2.
As a guess I'd say count from the throwing model though.

I agree that the illustrations are important, but they conflict in this case. Like you, I'm inclined to count from the attacker because the rules say so, yet it makes more sense for the first square to be behind the Grinder, not the Grinder's square, which leads me to think the illustration is right and the rules are wrong. Argh!
