    Default Avalancher in my hand

Just wanted to say I just got my Avalancher and I am heading to my workshop to put it together right now. Hope to have it battle-dressed by this weekend.

    Anyone put this together yet?

Haven't picked mine up, and Durgen's going ape s***. Keeps throwin' stuff at me. Anywho, are those bad boys metal or plastic? I'm hoping the latter, but if not I'll deal.

Speculation was plastic, but it is metal and in my hands as well. Lucked out and got the last one my FLGS had.

People would not listen to sense when I said that these were metal.

I'm not going to get one, I don't see it as useful, I am going to convert a 5th Driller into an Avalancher and proxy one, IF he proves handy I MAY purchase one... possibly.

Its easier to convert a Rockram into an Avalancher. Cut the hammer off the left hand then I left the shield off of the right arm and attached a Defender cannon, then a friend made a shield from GW parts.

I hear you, but I hope with all that is coming out next month the Avalancher and gang will make Durgen a excellent caster for Searforge.

9 points might seem high but it is the only AOE that Thor can tuneup.

I've built my three already. There pretty easy. Standard driller legs, chassis, shoulders, shoulder pads, head, front plate... Thats all the same.

One suggestion I would make. Put the whole shield arm together (shield, wrist, arm), then mount it to the shoulder, and then the shoulder to the body. This will make it much easier to get the shield angled the way you want it. Basically build the arm from the shield up, and not the shoulder down.

Just received this model for commission work, along with the Ghordson Basher, and Thor Steinhammer.

    Sculpt is kind of okay.

I'm loading up a pair them tonight. Thor has new friends!
Wrap me up in my old flying jacket,
And give me a joystick to hold, to hold,
And I'll soar once again o'er the trenches
And thus shall my exploits be told.

Picked mine up yesterday before work and am assembling it this morning. Like everyone has said before, metal body based off the Driller chassis, but enough to keep it looking different. My first one is a standing pose with the shield blocking towards the front, my second will be in a running/strolling pose with the shield towards the side. All around a very nice model that will be broken in tomorrow night.
And for the record, its first game will be with Gorten, and when I get my second,it will definately be a Madhammer list.

It would have made a LOT of sense that PP had released both these and a mule/nomad/new generic merc jack in plastic
As well as a new all toilet rhulic jacks include set
Well better luck in MK 3 i hope

with the problems they have been having with the plastics I wouldn't want to wait 2-3 more months for them to fix the quality of them.

I was unsatisfied with my plastic Khador jack. Too many bent pieces and the main body had holes in it from the plastic not fully filling the mold.

I'll stick to metal models where I can.

Plastics look cool, but they still seem to be working out the kinks in this process.

At least their metal models don't have the mold line issues that GW has. That used to drive me nuts with GW's stuff. PP must use a better material for the molds that doesn't break down over time.

Of course, GW does have the plastics thing down. The only model I've seen in the GW plastics that had issues was the Space Marine Land Speeder. The top of the vehicle frame never quite fit on right.... even after clamping.

It wouldn't have made financial sense however. Take the Rhulic jacks - why would you convert a perfectly good metal sculpt into plastic when only 2 warcasters can bring them? Similar issue with the human jacks.

Merc player numbers have swelled a bit now that our competetive army options are actually worth a damn, but even so we are probably one of the smallest WM factions. And then our jacks are factionalized WITHIN the actual faction! Of course there won't be any plastic kits for us - money/profit is the big barrier.

Sadly, my usual LGS didn't even make a warmachine order, so I'll have to start sniffing around. GO figure... you have warmachine nights, you have players that regularly attend, and yet you don't order when things are new? What a way to run a business.

True but there is a flip side to this, a lot of Faction players have a side force of mercs that they sometimes use.

I only got my Khador book and Strakhov on Friday... I'm not holding my breath on the Avalancher I told them I wanted pretty much as soon as it was announced. Only going to buy the one at first. Then I'll see how much rrom I have left in my case after I've bough at least one HS UA and two artillery units. Ah well. I just picked up a second Driller (never had need of more than one before, now I can't wait to load one up with three focus, Strength of Granite, Tune up to hit and CHAAAAARGE!) so I can paint that and some Blood Bowl stuff while I'm waiting for the new Rhullics.
