    Default An Anti Stealth List

So I was thinking that if I want play in a tourney I am going to have to have a list specifically made for combating Stealth, the caster that dictates this is Kae. Since I have only played her once, I need help making a list that meets two requirements 1) deal with stealth, and 2) be competitive.

Here are my initial thoughts on making a list at 35 pts.

    Kaelyssa, Night's Whisper
    Hydra
    Phoenix
Dawnguard Sentinels (Leader and 9 Grunts)
    Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard
    Dahlia Hallyr & Skarath
    Narn, Mage Hunter of Ios

People have looked and no one has said anything.

Here is a more refined version of the list:
    Kaelyssa, Night's Whisper
    Phoenix
Dawnguard Sentinels (Leader and 9 Grunts)
    Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard
    Dahlia Hallyr & Skarath
    Fane Knight Skeryth Issyen
    House Shyeel Magister
    Madelyn Corbeau, Ordic Courtesan
    Narn, Mage Hunter of Ios

    Thoughts?

I feel like you could points better spent than on Dahlia and Skarath. A Manticore is going to help you b/c the covering fire screws with a lot of those stealth units by minimizing how many can charge in. It's also good for going after other jacks. Second, I feel like your solo choices could be better. I know you are gunning for having a long charge range. However, Kae's feat is all you need to get into a good position. Instead of spending the points on the Fane Knight and Shyeel Magister and Corbeau I feel you would be better off getting a unit of something else or some stronger solo's. You could simply go with a unit of Stormfalls (AOE's always help) and MHA (you still get the long threat range) but also going for a unit of Halbadiers wouldn't be a bad idea.

I would like to work in a MHA, I can see switching out the mittens for one. I am sort of reluctant to replace the fane; that give me a mat 8 11” cav charge, and whatever I charge is going to take 2 swings of serious pain. Most things that have stealth are jack up on defense and the fane give access to some seriously high mat.

I also take the point with D&S, I was kind of experimenting with putting them in 1) to reduce the focus load on Kae 2) have a 10” boostable spray at a reasonable Rat. As I said I am experimenting with them, they could be carp. If they don’t work out I would readily pull them for a manticore.

Corbeau she is there to get angles for key models, again she is in there for evaluation. I have no problem replacing her with a MHA.

It’s is interesting you mention the HH I had a full unit and UA and chimera at the 50 pt expansion.

Oh yeah, I get that the Fane Knight has a really good threat range and hits hard. The rational for the HH was that it will give you more attacks that can hit pretty hard. I honestly don't have any experience using the Fane Knight because he doesn't fit my playstyle. I don't like the idea of paying 5 pts for the solo who hits twice when I could pay a little more and get a full unit.

I get what you are saying about all the other things you could get for the fane knight.

The closest comparison I can think of is the Gorgon, for 5 points- I am going to focus on melee; one swing at pow 16 or 2 pow 12 swings. Or you can spend 3 focus for a charge, and a reasonable chance of landing that pow 16 with 3 dice, and an ancillary pow 12 swing. With the fane you get 2 guaranteed swings pow 13 swings with 3 dice at mat 8 (the highest non-flanking we have.)

The Gorgon has 20 boxes (26 w/ field) armor 16 and def 12, the more damage it takes the less def. Fane has 15 boxes 17 armor and def 13, the more damage he takes the lower armor (he keeps his def; I like that better.)

One can run 12” for a focus, the other can run 16” no focus. Although I have not had much experience w/ Kae, my experience with most of the RoS caster focus is a premium the fane helps alleviate that aspect. This will really help getting in to peoples faces.

The RoS have got the shooting covered, in my opinion what they are lacking in is beat sticks. Yeah, we have the sentinels that’s one unit. HH I view as very competent that could be used as beat stick in a pinch, but they really don’t scream beat stick to me at least at six models. We have the manticore it’s a beat stick technically, it is too focus intensive for my tastes and it is at the 8 pt level, we have Narn and MHA those are great fantastic, but they are more of a scalpel that a beat stick.

Honestly, he doesn’t fit my play style either but I am learning with him, and he does scratch that spot at 5 points where I need something that makes the opponent grit their teeth. Try him you might like him, the fane has work well for me so far.

Go with the Fane Knight. That is one good piece to bring. You did good job in rooting out it's good sides already. In a way he's a jack that doesn't need any focus. Also if you already have Madelyn don't drop her so quickly. With that 3" both Narn and Issyen charge that much longer. Add in a whip snap and you are just flying.
