Default When do you pop your feat?

one of the things i've found about warmache is that poping your feat can be a real art. i lost 3 games today when i didn't pop my feet when i should of, stil a noobi problem i have but it got me thinking, when does everyone else pop their feats with their favourite casters?

when i play eDenny i usualy pop it as soon as i'm in range of the caster, and lock them down extra hard with orin midwinter.

gorshade i try to hold off till late in the game when a new unit will have more of an impact on the match

There is no real answer to this question. It's something that is always intuitive. When it will be most effective offensively is when you should use it. Never let your opponent make you use it. Most of our feats are of an offensive nature so if your using it to not die your playing into your opponents gameplan more often than not. One feat I will never ever use defensively is pskarres feat. Come hell or high water I am using it to smash some face in.

I much prefer to use it on the offensive but I will use it defensivley if it benefits me in the long run. Hell, it's still basically Stryker's feat in that regard...lol

Like I said, I prefer it to be offensive, but I've used it to make my army practically unshiftable in scenario play.

Pop your feat when it will allow you to:

    a.) Kill their warcarcaster
b.) Do enough damage to their forces to cripple them
c.) Prevent your warcaster from inevitably dying their next turn

There is no exact time/turn to know when you should pop it. Just every turn ask yourself if your feat can help achieve one or more of the three above mentioned scenarios.

I have used her feat successfully in defense. If you are playing a timed and objective filled tourney, I have used it usually on the 2nd turn if I am going first because of the aggressive play of the scenarios, or on the first turn if the opponent has overextended an advanced deploy unit and then was able to engage it or attack the unit and then have the protection of not being damaged too much by the rebuttle.

yeah, works great and frustrates the hell out of your oponent when he can't do anything! just be sure to have a couple of stalkers handy, coz knowing their about to die, they'll probably camp all focus

A general rule is that if you haven't popped it by turn 3, you're doing it wrong.

Your feat needs to either save your bacon and set up a counterstrike, or break the opponent's back and put them on the defensive. I usually end up using mine by turn 2, and rarely by turn 3.

Its best to have a plan on when to pop your feat. You can normally set up a game plan for your list and think about which turn the feat is best used in. While its done in a vaccum, its still sets a good guideline.

The Gaspy's are the ones that float around alot. They are normally saved for the kill run and you may have to wait for the opening for an extra turn or two so you can't really plan them out pre-game.

d.) Will popping my feat win my via scenario? i.e eDenny.

Add that and I think you have the 4 conditions covered.

The Coven's feat is often best used to protect your army as it advances. The last few games I've played them and gone first, I poped feat on turn 2 after Eggy ran forward to blanket the board. Kinda hideous, actually.
