I love Yuri the Axe, although having seen it in person I don't think anything short of making an entirely new base out of pewter is going to counterbalance the weight.
He has left over sprue in the base. Not quite heavy enough. Tyson (PG_menelker) happens to be my local PG. He recommended lead. So I'm planning to pick up some fishing weights to hammer and cut down to the right size. Kinda hoping I get luck and find a tire weight on the sidewalk.
Orsus Zoktavir, The Butcher of Khardov! Last model of 2015. Been a while since I updated. Life and other project have been distracting me. I got Orsus for Christmas this year and just couldn't resist painting him up. He's my main caster and up until now I've been using Kommander Orsus Zoktavir (eButcher/Butcher2) as a proxy.
I had a bit of an accident and spilled super glue on his left side. After I was done painting him. I was able to carefully use acetone to clean it up without damaging the paint to badly. What damage I did, I was able to fix.
Back when I first started with a Star Wars paint scheme the butchers bald head and collar immediately scream Darth Malak to me. So here he finally is. I'm pretty happy with the way he came out. The red highlights stand out a bit more than I'd like, but it sorta works when compared to the weird weave of Malak's outfit. Hope you like him! As always, I welcome any comments and critiques.
Been a while since I got anything painted. Here's Kozlov! The highlights aren't fantastic, but not bad for my first try at highlighting black. Overall I'm pretty happy with him.
The black looks good! ah usually end up adding a coat gloss varnish when ah paint black armour.
Sock-jacking is a viable option for dis-assembly.
If tis stupid & it werks, tis not stupid.

Just need Grand Moff Irusk now...
Mercenaries and auxiliaries are useless and dangerous; and if one holds his state based on these arms, he will stand neither firm nor safe. Machiavelli, The Prince.
So just stumbled into this today and I got to say I love the start wars Kahdor. And I like what you have shown so far. I know it was a while ago there was discussion about Tie fighter jacks, I think going with a primary gray blue color like on the ties with ascents in black would work, I got. Spare kahdor jak from a two play set that I will paint up my idea on and will include the colors used so if you like the ideas you can use it the ranged jacks.
I'm back to working on minis, and boy is this one a doozy. I got a Victor/Conquest kit for Christmas, and I'm converting it into an AT-TE from the clone wars. Because apparently I'm a masochist.
I'm gonna cover this one in a bit more detail than I usually do. Not a lot, but a little. So yeah, look at all them runners. It's at this point I was really glad I build a lot of Gundam kits.
Most of this thing goes together with no problem. To bad I'm not putting it together in the way PP intended. So let the sanding, grinding, and cutting begin!
OK, so now we've got the neck attached to its spine, and the shoulders glued together. I'll fill in the gaps in those...bumb things in the middle with super glue.
Now with 200% more popsicle stick! They fit perfectly between the shoulders. For the normal head area I had to drill a hole and then do some fileing. Then I attached the two sides of the hips to the center area.
Filled in the gaps in the sides pretty well.
And now I've outfitted my colossal with a lovely all wood deck.
Didn't get as much done this week as I wanted, but I did get some work done.
Got the gun mounts modified to fit the new layout. The guns will be facing backwards compared to the regular layout. So some modification had to be done to make it work.
I also bored out the barrels on all the guns. That funky ground out part below the barrel will be hidden my the rest of the figure.
To mount the guns I glued a magnet on the main body, and a piece of old hobby knife to the gun. The gun if light enough it'll stay on just fine this way.
Here you can see the fit together. The single magnet gave me just enough lift on the cannon that I didn't have to do any more grinding to make the barrel itself to fit. Here you can also see that I've attached the shoulders where the central legs will be going.
Ooooh, I can't wait til you put legs on this bad boy
I used modified axis walker legs from dust tactics
Whoa. I'll be watching this one. Radically converting colossals is a high stakes proposition... but with huge potential payoff.
You have controlled your fear.
