Default Home Brew: Menoth Flamethrower Firedancers

Ok, so this may sound weird but last night I dreamed that in the game there where menoth gunmage like models that used pistol flamethrowers. Oddly, I forgot the entire dream but remembered the model. When I woke, I liked the idea so much I thought of rules for them.

    Novis of the Firedancers
    Character DoTF Flamegaurd Unit

    Damage: 5 EA
    FA: C
    Novis, Caroliah, & Taraza: 4

    SPD:7
    STR:5
    MAT:6
    RAT:7
    DEF:15
    ARM:12

    Weapons

    2x Menoth's Little Fury

    RNG: SP 6
    ROF: 1
    POW: 12

    Novis:

(Order) Fire Blitz: All members in the unit must forfeit their action to prefore a Fire Blitz. Pick a point within LoS and 6" of all models in the unit. This point becomes the point of origin for the Fire Blitz. Target enemy model. Center a SP 10 template in the same manner of a spray attack. Fire Blitz is POW 12 +1 for each model in the unit who forfeited their action.

The Firedancers are Feora's personal tool of assassination in the southern Protectorate where she now wields supreme military power. No secretive "black operations" team, the Firedancers are a weapon of terror, sent to sow death and confusion amidst the enemies of the Protector of the Flame. Whispers abound in Imer and Sul that she has also used them to eliminate percieved threats to her station within the Protectorate's hierarchy.

Led by the brash and ill-tempered Attia Novis, the Firedancers have executed terror strikes deep within Cygnaran and Skorne territory. Attia favors slaughter over the so-called "surgical strikes" of other nations' covert teams, a policy Feora supports whole-heartedly. Attia is one of the few women to have served in the Flameguard since her youth, and in the Daughters of the Flame since their inception. She survived the siege of Sul and the assault on Caspia, and her loyalty is unquestionable.

Caroliah Seth, the youngest member of the Firedancers, is an unexpected addition to the team. She is possibly the most devout of the three, and spends countless hours in prayer when the Firedancers are between missions. She seems the cool and calculating mind to temper Attia's firey temper and rash decision making, but when engaged in combat against the soldiers of the Cygnus, her manner becomes one of cold fury. Caroliah's husband and children were crushed in their home by rubble when the wall of Sul was breached. She longs for the opportunity to turn her Tindersticks on those she holds responsible, and she bristles at the mention of Lord Commander Stryker or Major Brisbane.

The third and final member of the Firedancers is an enigma. Rumored to have trained in the Order of the Fist, Taraza ad-Imran speaks little of her past. None of her fellow Daughters even know whom she lost to inspire her to join them, but she fights with a stone-faced zeal, totally committed to her mission. Unlike Attia or Caroliah, Taraza seems to take no satisfaction in her work; she is an emotionless killer, a stoic and merciless dispenser of Feora's will.

As a person who homebrews alot, I like it. I would love to see more converts in our army. I and don't mean some people that simply converted. I mean fully trained soldiers who are too good at what they're trained to do, to change their fighting style.

I like the idea of a unit of fast short sprays.

The *action sounds like it should be an order.

Seems pretty cool though I'd take the word "mages" out, Menoth frowns on that kind of thing.

Well, the name is not the name I would pick. It's just when I dreamed of the model, it looked like a gun mage dressed in DotF clothes and held dual pistol-sized flamethrowers. (Yes, my dreams are weird)

The 10"spray getting a 6" range boost seems kinda needless, but if it originated from the leader that would be sound. pow 15 rat 9 10" spray would be mean. I like that they can use their sprays in melee too.

I love it. This is a perfect opportunity for more Flameguard models, sorta a cross between DotF and Cleansers. Perfect little tool for clearing enemy troopers, and six shots can even worry Warcasters. Call 'em "Flameguard Firedancers" or "Flameguard Embers" and call the weapons "Tindersticks".

The Firedancers are Feora's personal tool of assassination in the southern Protectorate where she now wields supreme military power. No secretive "black operations" team, the Firedancers are a weapon of terror, sent to sow death and confusion amidst the enemies of the Protector of the Flame. But of course!

I'm trying to form a picture of them in my mind... sorta like the Daughters, but with slightly more elaborate/decorated armour, and guns instead of swords (naturally), and possibly more concealing robes. The guns themselves I imagine looking like scaled-down Cleanser purifiers, with slightly flared barrels. Possibly tubes for the Menoth's Fury going to a small fuel pack situated between the shoulders? The tank would be tall and as flush with the body as possible for easy movement...

I think I may convert up this unit just for fun.

There desperate calls for another triple-shooting team in addition to the black 13s.

This is a fantastic idea and I really think it looks pretty nice for 4 points.

Spray attacks with a 13" threat range, at rat 7, pow 12? Homebrew makes my brain bleed.

Cleansers can basically do the same thing with Severius. 13" threat, rat6 and reroll misses, and pow13. As far as homebrews go these are some of the more balanced ones ive seen.

I would like to see a trio of fire mages as well. Although Id like their abilities be a little more varied. Maybe three spells each with a spray attack, firewall, and a fireshield type ability (+2 ARM and immunity to fire). Being able to give our own stuff fire immunity would open up a whole new range of possibilities with the Repenter and Cleaners.

I disagree. Rat 7 sprays are nothing short of phenomenal. Now, 6 of them? For 4 points? Wow. And with Sevy (as you pointed out) they become rat 8.

But hey, the B13 exsist for the same point cost, so it's always possible.

That being said, they're probably still one of the more balanced homebrews I've seen. And that's sad

cleansers get 6 sprays for 5 points and arnt a character unit. Character units always get a discount so 4 points seems about right to me.
