Default 25pt Tourney - Possible Strakhov List

There's an upcoming 25pt tournament coming soon, and I decided this time to try out Strakhov as the backorders of mine FINALLY came in, which included the Kommando unit box. The list I threw together is:

    Strakhov - +6
    Kodiak - 8
    Juggernaut - 7
Max Assault Kommando unit - 8
    2 Kommando Flamethrowers - 2
    Great Bears - 5
    War Dog - 1

    Looks solid enough. Thoughts?

i think at 25, you'd be be better off taking beast instead of the kodiak and the juggernaut, and adding in 4 points of something else. drakhun w/o dismount would be a good option. fast, hard hitting, just like strakhov likes 'em.

I could use Beast-09, but I figured the old saying "Two ____ are better than one." would be applicable here (in this case, the blank being warjacks). That way, if one bites the dust, I at least have another one on hand. If I just use Beast-09 and he's killed, I don't know if I could come back and finish off the opponent's jack or jacks.

    eeeeerm, NO
The Khadoran also have got a saying: "The bigger, the better"
Beast is simply so crazy ****ing awesome that you SHOULD take it

And, tbh i would not take full (or any) AKs on 25 points simply because they are "low-budget-infantry"-killer but don't think that there are many 25 point lists with enough low budget infantry to make them worth.
They won't leave a dent in the hull of a jack or elite infantry, they won't hit a warcaster or high-def infantry, the only thing that they CAN do is killing hundreds of mecha-thralls and crap like that
If I were you, i would take IFP or Kayazy in

i was going to suggest ifp as well, as they are much faster with strakhov's feat and their own mini feat. but if you like the ak's go for it. the wa is pretty cool, and while strakhov giving them pathfinder isn't enough reason to take them in my opinion, its a nice ability as well as fluffy.

Well, I could try Beast-09 by himself. Hopefully he won't end up dying too soon before he does any damage.

I don't have a Drakhun, but I do have some Widowmakers. Might take a unit of them to make up the extra four points. I'll stick with the Kommandos for now, as this is mainly a learning experience in seeing how well they work. If I find they just don't work too well, as it's claimed, I'll try using something else instead. Although I hate having dead models in my collection, so I can't just outright ignore them forever...

The list now looks like this:

    Strakhov - +6
    Beast-09 - 11
Max Assault Kommando unit - 8
    2 Kommando Flamethrowers - 2
    Great Bears - 5
    Widowmakers - 4
    War Dog - 1

i think this is much better. anti-infantry with the beast, good anti-jack with beast and the bears. plus, if all else fails, you can run a flamethrower into some infantry and shoot him in the back with a widowmaker

Pretty much the plan. I just hope my Kommandos actually work out decently enough so I can consider using them again later on. I don't want to simply shelf them for the remainder of their life.

I playtested versus a 25pt eSkarre army and managed to win! Strakhov popped his feat, which lead to the Great Bears to completely cripple a Nightwretch to only 3 points left, and Beast-09 charged a model next to Skarre, threshered both it and Skarre, then finished her off with a additional attack.

But, sadly, the Widowmakers and Kommandos didn't fare so well. Tartarus and Bane Thralls were wreaking havoc on the Kommandos, and the Widowmakers nearly died to an earlier Bloodrain. So I now see that the Kommandos aren't quite so good. I won't abandon them completely, but they aren't a front line unit. They need to be behind something like Pikemen or similar to support them.

So, I've changed things around a bit and came up with this:

    Strakhov - +6
    Beast-09 - 11
Max Iron Fang Pikemen unit w/ UA - 10
    Great Bears - 5
    Manhunter - 2
    Manhunter - 2
    War Dog - 1

This way, I have almost everything capable of benefiting from Strakhov's feat when it pops.
