    Default Roulette vs melee

In the wargroup that I play in I heard that our merc player just obtained a new warcaster that I have not played yet...Ahlynn D'Elyse (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/mkiiAshlynn)

I noticed her feat is pretty down right dirty lol:

Roulette: Her feat effects models in her control range, and not models attacking into her control range. Those models roll extra attack dice, and Ashlynn's controller forces them to discard two of them. This can be used both offensively and defensively, denying attacks against you, and ensuring your attacks hit. It is also quite useful at arranging critical hits. Roulette tends to make Ashlynn unassailable in melee, thanks to her exceptional defense and Riposte ability.

So my understanding of this is for one turn both players will roll 3 dice. My opponent would be able to remove 2 dice from my roll rendering any models within its control range basically useless. Am I correct in this understanding?

If I am correct, if I am playing a mostly melee army list what is a good strategy to avoid being dominated for a turn with this feat?? My fear is I am going to play like I have a pair, get in range of this attack and get smoked lol. Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Actually.
Roulette adds 2 dice so a normal attack roll will be 4d6 and you drop the 2 that the Ashlynn player determines. So you're not really sitting at 1d6+stat. But normally it won't matter because let's say you roll a 1, two 3s and a 6. you're still only going to have a 4 total whereas your opponent would have a 9.
It's hard to get around. In fact it's better to just not devote too much to attacking unless it's not boosted or with extra dice in the attack on the feat turn. unless it's something that's super easy to hit. (Like the Butcher on some Forge Guard... But even then i've seen somebody roll 3 1s a 4 and a 5 and crit miss).

Feats are powerful. And unless you're Sorsha you're not going to be able to negate Ashlynn's. But Khador is made to outlast. So play the patient hunter. Or speaking of hunters, Use Bombards and snipers to attack from outside of the 12 inches that is her control.

My best advice is to try to make your opponent use the Feat early if you can. A wasted Feat is very demoralizing.

ppl tend to run er with units and jacks that benefit from crits. think horgenhold, mules, atgm, thor with a rockam. it can get pretty dirty.
Its better to be caught with your Kilt up than with your pants down, you can run faster.
