Sweet. Thanks for re-scheduling it. Our crew is pumped up for it.
Prepare for the full MK2 revival of Hordes as Genesis hits Gatehouse Games in Duncansville, PA on August 7th.
Doors open at 1230, registration begins at 1, the event begins promptly at 2.
Cost is $5 for fully painted armies. The new store policy is no unpainted models.
As with the Resurgence event, we will be running an escalating format of encounters at 25, 35, and 50 points, with any matches beyond the third being run at the 35 point level.
Specific details on the event can be found here: http://privateerpress.com/files/HORD...is%20Rules.pdf
To be even friendlier than necessary, we are allowing Warmachine factions to participate in this event. However, you can only win the Champion overall standing because all other coins are Hordes factions.
Things to keep in mind
- The 25 point lists cannot have epic casters/locks or non-caster/lock character models that are not released in Prime or Primal
- The 35 point level can have epic casters/locks and character war-beasts/jacks. You are also permitted to upgrade your models using the following conversions. They replace the previous version in your list and you must pay the point difference.
Additional prizes will be based on attendance. All participants will be eligible for these additional prizes.
- Dire Troll ⇒ Mulg the Ancient
- Construct heavy warbeast ⇒ Megalith
- Cyclops ⇒ Molik Karn
- Legion heavy warbeast ⇒ Typhon
- Lancer ➞ Thorn
- Ironclad ➞ Ol’ Rowdy
- Revenger ➞ Blessing of Vengeance
- Crusader ➞ Fire of Salvation
- Berserker ➞ Drago
- Juggernaut ➞ Beast 09
- Slayer ➞ Nightmare
- Seether ➞ Deathjack
- The 50 point list can use any model legal for that faction. Because these lists are escalating, models from the smaller lists must be included in every list afterward.
Details will be added or amended as needed. Questions can be directed to either Tim at 814-693-9271 or myself.

Attention everyone.
The cost for participation is now only $5. For everyone. This change reflects the new store policy of only fully painted models available to play.
That's right, your entire army must be painted to play. Three separate colors and you're golden. Hopefully, you have plenty of time to prepare for this.

Can't flock? Use friggin' paint

All of my stuff is painted and flocked. I'm just asking so we don't have any people making the trip down there only to find out that they can't play. That wouldn't be cool. Most of our guys don't read these forums. I pass along the information to them.

It's pretty much don't come in with crap. The locals and regulars couldn't be bothered to paint models or put money in the "unpainted model scenery fund" so the new rules are an across the board crackdown.

I'm sure the above was incredibly informative, but noted somewhere else.
Anyway, Genesis is coming up in 4 weeks. We have the kit in now. Also, MK1 token sets for Menoth, Cryx and Circle in the store are now at a discount. Also, any remaining MK1 books are on sale too.
And if there is something SPECIFIC you are looking for, call ahead, ask and pre-order if necessary. There are plenty of people who visit the store for stock and if they bought the last before you arrived, you'll be out of luck.

It was nothing that you don't already know. The painting requirement will hurt attendance for this and any future events at the store. Two people (Joe and Geoff) have already told me they won't be there because of it. Tim K. rides with Joe so that means he won't be there either. Most of the guys in Greensburg don't have fully painted armies, especially Hordes, so I don't expect many of them to make the trip. From what I understand though Tim has his mind made up on this so this is how it's going to be. It's his sandbox. We just play in it. We'll do the best we can with what we've got.

I'm just gonna say that it's not like I'm springing this on them. Well over a month in advance warning. Besides, the pictures look better when I'm not focusing on bare metal or primer.

Hhmmm - Privateer Press specifically states that painted models are not required in their Events...
W39 L13 D00 = Battle Record MKII Circle Orboros
W43 L07 D00 = Battle Record MKII Cryx
W02 L01 D01 = Battle Record MKII Talion Charter

If it was an in-house tournament then I could see house rules being applied, but considering Genesis is a PP Sanctioned Event then IMHO their standards should be followed... just saying.

I mainly focus on having my "main" faction fully painted, which is Cygnar with a spattering of Mercs. My Circle stuff is not fully painted. The violators are, of course, solos and units. I have the characters and beasts all painted. Painting is a part of the hobby for me. I paint when I want to, and when I have time to do so. I have the demo sets for everything I own painted as a requirement for the Press Gang, of course. I will likely come down to the store because I haven't been there forever but won't be able to participate because my Circle stuff isn't fully painted. But it'll be good to come into Gatehouse Games and see the goings on even if I won't be able to throw down for a day of gaming with my stuff.
Edit: Although, I could field my Cygnar stuff and just not be in the winnings for a HORDES coin, right?

Rich, I believe you are correct. You would be in the running for the Champion coin but not the faction coins.
I talked to Joe yesterday. He's going to try and throw some paint at his models to be able to play. They may not be pretty but they'll be playable.
John, Dwight, Vic and I played practice games on Thursday at Whatever. We plan on doing so again the the next two weeks on Thursday evenings. So, Rich and anyone else reading this, if you want to come and practice with us you're more than welcome to do so. We're a bit rusty with our Hordes armies.

And if Tim's going to insist on pushing painting requirements for events expect continued criticism and disgruntled players. Unfortunately for you, his decision is going to bring heat on your head every time this comes up.
The Grand Galactic Inquisitor insists that you IGNORE ME! Also, I can read your mind. IGNORE ME!
Nobody is required to play there. However, if you want to, have stuff painted. As I've said before, this wouldn't have been a problem if those who brought unpainted had respect for store policy and put money in the can WITHOUT having to be asked to do so, like an adult. But everyone wanted to spend their focus and overboost too.
I'm all for diplomacy or being disgruntled, but don't be posting it in my event threads. You have a community for that. You won't be able to change Tim's mind because you guys showing up to my event one weekend out of how-ever-many-months-I-can-schedule-them doesn't offset the shirking from the day-to-day player. And you won't change my mind because I won't be convinced that it is impossible to find time in over a month to paint so many models. I've seen it done and I've done it.
This is the end of my diplomacy; any other post regarding the store policy will be flagged and reported. Level complaints in the personal spaces.
On the other hand, I'm going to be hell-a busy that weekend, so if you all could show up early or on time so you could pay and I can register you way ahead it will be a smoother flowing day. Just don't go to the buffet next door; the Fox's Pizza on the other side is much better.

Me and my winless (0-5) Skorne will be there!
btw...this season of Dr. Who was epic win. The last two episodes were especially awesome. This writer is even better than the last one in my opinion.
It'll be nice to see some Skorne in action; Bryan said he probably won't be able to make it.
I'll be honest: I watched this season for Amy Pond and stayed for the writing. I'm just upset BBC America doesn't bother to play the Tennant episodes from last year that I missed or the Torchwood special.

Quick heads up: Tim is out of town this weekend, GFM is heading the store. Should still be open on time, I'll be there early as always. This won't affect prizes or the kit as they have been sorted out beforehand.

Well, kudos to me for having to eat my words about the prizes being sorted out; however, I will ensure that the winners do not get short-changed.
Congratulations to Joe and all our other coin winners last night for some hard fought games.
Especially to Justin who managed to break his winless streak with Skorne to come out 3-1 with the highest control point total for the store (24).
Genesis also featured two new players very first miniatures tournament entries (Shane and Brandon) vying for the glory of Skorne and Circle.
And we even had a special guest appearance by our very own "large mammal" who will "say he is never coming to another event again."
Hope to be seeing you all again for our next event. All non-local players are invited to participate in Summer Rampage at Gatehouse (just register for the event on Privateer Events).

I had a blast. It was great to see such a good turnout. You guys are doing a really good job of recruiting new players. Congrats to Joe on the win and to Dwight and Les for winning faction coins. Joe barely gets to play anymore but proved once again that he's a beast on the tabletop. I was very happy to go 3-1 and get the Skorne coin. After going 0-6 in my practice games before the tourney I certainly had no dillusions of grandeur of winning the tourney. I lost my first game to Reznik but was able to pull it together after that. Now I need to switch back into Warmachine mode to get ready for the Greensburg tier 4 tourney late this month. After that it'll be back to Hordes mode to get ready for the next Genesis event. Lots of good stuff going on.
Thanks for running this one. I'm glad that I did, in fact, get to make the event. I had a lot of fun and will totally make an extra trip out to Gatehouse Games some Monday (they are open Mondays right?) to spend my fancy $10 door prize swag.
Yep, lots of big fun was had. Joe is full of thwart for me once again (Curse you, Joe!) but I'm very happy to have had such a great turnout against guys who were all class acts and lots of fun to play against. The Altoona WM player is no longer like Bigfoot, it would seem, and that's fantastic.![]()

Yes Rich, the shop is open Mon-Sat 1230(ish) to 9.
I like having lots of local players too. Almost as much as seeing good rolls from dice chucked to the table in anger.
In case you guys don't check out the myspaces anytime soon, I threw this together Sunday night after I made it back to Lansdowne: http://www.youtube.com/v/okutlKTjQPs

Well, that's a better movie than the other ones I've been in. For no other reason than I wasn't covered in fake blood, or dressed like a policeman, or freezing my tuchus off.

Titans can deliver the pain too. The big difference is that Karn has more speed and reach. I have a Karn. He's just not ready for the table yet. Charbok is going to convert mine using the Cyclops Brute's head. We're just waiting for the bit to arrive (along with our new character jack conversion kits). I really wish they had given him a helmet like in the artwork. My record for the day was good but then again I didn't play against Joe, Les, Vic or Dwight and those guys are all tough customers. Doubtful that I would have beaten any of them.
Yep. Joe's list was monstrous to play against (I can't believe you're not beating the drum for your champ using the most reviled trollblood warlock, Hoarluk Doomshaper. He didn't even break out the vastly superior Epic version of Doomy. I will say, had my dice decided to give me a Crit Slam, or even roll above average to clear out his KSB guys, the game would have gone differently.
Les would've cut me up, though. Les always cuts me up.![]()

I had no idea pDoom was so reviled. I shy away from faction forums and no one complained about him at the shop. But with so much DOOOOOOOOOM around Karn, how could I not mention that?
