    Default My first ever list.

Here is my rough 15pt list. I've never played Warmachine before, so still trying to learn it all.

    Warwitch Deneghra
    Deathripper
    Nightwretch
    Slayer
Bane Thralls (Leader and 5 Grunts)
    Necrotech & 1 Scrap Thrall

What are peoples opinions on this list? Haven't bought any of the models, so anything can change.

Seems pretty text book dude. I'd maybe drop the necrotech and take a reaper in liu of the slayer. Denny can debuff the enemy so much that you'll be able to drag things all over the place! Then again the necrotech could be handy, I just never have any luck with them!

I am not to fond of the Necrotech, especially in small battles like this. If you're going for point fillers I would consider a Machine Wraith over the necrotech. I believe at this point level it will have much more of an impact on the game than a necrotech and can be quite an annoyance that will need to be dealt with, which can divert some attention away from your more important stuff. if not dealt with it will cause havoc for your opponent by denying him the opion of feednig a jack focus for that turn at the very least

The Reaper is nice, but I think the Slayer will do a better job with the sheer volume of initial attacks or the stomping power of combo strike vs the Reaper.

Denny is an excellent caster and you'll have fun with her for sure.

A good rule of thumb for Warmachine is to look at the spell list of your caster and ask how it fits your army.

Right away you'll see that Denny has 6 spells; 5 of which are classified as offensive. This means she has to deliver those spells to the opponent. She's too fragile to put up front so the only way she'll do this and still keep her skin intact is to use Arc nodes. I don't play at 15 points (usually 35 for me) but 2 arc nodes should be fine for 15 points. Any higher point level and you'll want a 3rd.

I think your list looks fine. You have one heavy to help take out hard targets. You have two arc nodes to help get your spells to the opponent. You've selected a good infantry unit that is both survivable (stealth) and capable of cracking jacks as well as infantry.

The other posters have a point. Necrotechs can be a bit fiddly to use and they don't have much survivability. Still I think you should try it. Your Slayer is going to have a huge target on his forehead and will likely draw incoming ranged fire that your necrotech can help patch up. New players tend to think the Necrotech exists to fully repair jacks. That's not their role. They exist to walk up, repair enough damage boxes to bring a system online so your jack can be fully functional long enough to hopefully wreck your opponent. The necrotech should follow your slayer as you close distance to the opponent and be prepared to repair any ranged fire damage.

When you play with the arc nodes don't lead with both of them. A smart opponent will know that Denny's power comes from her ability to arc spells. I generally keep mine back and only run one up when I need to arc a spell.

A nice rule of thumb with Denny is she should try to do something herself every turn and help someone every turn. For example cast Ghost Walk on the slayer so it can charge across that wall and still make it to the target. Then arc crippling grasp on that heavy warjack that is threatening your line to prevent its ability to charge you the following turn.

It looks decent for a starting point to learn from. I wouldn't worry too much about making the "perfect" 15 point list unless you plan to play most of your games at that level for an extended amount of time, but rather try to buy models that you will still use in your first 25 and 35 pt lists.

The night wretch is a solid choice, but if you are looking for a minimal initial purchase investment you could just stick with the 2 deathrippers that come with the cryx battle box to start off. Otherwise if you buy the nightwretches, they come 2 to a pack and you may just want to use both of them instead of the deathrippers.

Moving from 15 to 25 points and above, you will probably want to fill out to a full unit of bane thralls and pick up Bane Lord Tartarus. Picking up another caster or 2 is also a good idea for the most drastic change in game style for the least $ investment. If you plan on playing 15 points for a while, the withershadow combine can make for a nice substitution for the bane thralls at that point level.

Read over the stuff at http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/mkiiCryx and post questions as they come up and you should be in good shape.
