So, someone please explain to me why these guys can't or wouldn't work in Merc contracts... I mean seriously. We could use 'em.

i was thinking the same thing.
They should be mercenary minions, haha we let them borrow boomhowler and the nyss...wheres our love!
We have Gorman.
and...? I want Bog Trog ambushers as well, hell, just give us the whole minion range.
It's uncalled for. There in NO good reason as to why they don't. Just start feilding them in your lists and when people ask just tell them, "it's how things should be!"

To be fair there are some merc models that Hordes could use access to as well, such as Reinholdt and Eiryss.
I don't disagree, I was just pointing out that its not just WM that is missing out. In fact, there are more minions that work as mercs than there are mercs that work as minions. Hordes kinda has the crap end of the stick in that regard.
I was really really hoping to see Reinholdt work as a minion. Alas, it did not happen.
We could see changes Mk2, the hordes rules hint at Minion pacts which would be the equivilent of contracts, it will also be a very thin forces book if they dont expand the range.
Hey. Trust me. If I could run a Magnus list using Gatormen and Wrongeye + Snapjaw, I would in a heartbeat. Alas, such is not the case.
A bear can dream, though.

I've wanted these guys for mercs for quite some time (not really for practicality's sake, but more to paint and have fun with). I will note that the Witchfire Trilogy lists Swamp Gobbers, specifically, as a race that generally avoids contact with humans outside of the occasional banditry (as opposed to those gobbers with communities within human settlements). It's a fine little line, but I guess it exists...

Not only that but Minions NEED their own degree of uniqueness. I actually wouldn't want to see them be available to mercs, even though they are good. Minions have very little options already, it would be lame to see them all just be shunted off to Merc contracts too.
The LEAST PP could do is let some of them work for the Agenda. Magnus is a Skorne Minion Warcaster/lock so why not? Minions that will work for Skorne should work in the Agenda. It's already an extremely limited selection. Searforge does get a bear after all so, why not?

Well no, actually the least they could do is to simply let them work for Minions only - which is what they are apparently doing (ie - the right thing, IMO).
Ah well, didn't mean to sound snarky or whatever, so apologies - I really don't feel that Gobbers belong in mercs from a fluff perspective (they shun society) or from a necessity perspective (Gorman currently does a better job of smoke cloud generation because he has Stealth. The gobbers are too easily killed in the mark 2 version).
But I would disagree in that we don't have enough options. Actually we have a slew of them really. I play broad-spectrum mercs and usually my problem is that I have a hard time narrowing down exactly what I want to bring. This is a great time to be a merc player - not like back in the days of Apotheosis, where the factions had a ton of stuff and mercs had only a handful of options.
But anyhow, I really don't think we NEED the gobbers as we have Gorman - who is a way better option (at the moment - the Gobbers haven't been finalized of course). But you are right - that's purely my opinion![]()
No offense taken. I see it this way. If you are holding Gorman back just to provide smoke for your caster then you are waisting an amazing toolbox solo. Gobbers would be a great 1 point filler to give our casters a little more protection against ranged attacks w/out taking a Bokur or Vanguard all the time.
On the subject of not enough options i'd say yes and no. Depending completely upon which contract you are using. Four Star and Highborn have tons of options i would completely agree. However, the Agenda and Searforge... mostly the Agenda could use some more flexability.

If someone like Gorman is willing to work for Cryx, I can’t see why he wouldn’t want to work for Circle, Trolls, and even Legion and Skorne.
Skorne and Legion pay their minions through thrice-filtered intimidation and ghost-headed hoopdawoop. They also generally kill people who ask for anything else. While I think there's a bit of logic in Gobbers/Farrow being Mercenary compatible... I don't see a lick of sense in Gatormen doing anything for anyone in western Immoren. They aren't afraid of iron and don't use money too often. Bog Trogs are more afraid of iron, but use money even less, and both Bog Trogs and Gatormen are far, far removed from the west.
Farrows seem to make more sense if only because of Rorsh. He's got Dynomite, a really cool gun, Magnus went places and met people like Rorsh... and Morghuul.
Gourman wouldn't work for circle, as they too shun society and are a very closed group. Then, trolls only thrust exceptional individuals that helped them, like Pendrake (they dipped him into bodili fluids so they can reconise him from afar (or so a friend of mine said)
The grass is always greener I'm afraid. You can look at the whole slew of Mercs available to WM factions, then you can look at the minions WM factions can use... then you look at the comparatively small force that work ONLY for Hordes and you wish you could have them...
I feel your pain, there are a bunch of Mercs that it would only make sense would work for certain Hordes factions.
I think balancing them is the biggest issue, its relatively easy to balance within one faction but in multiple factions it becomes tricky not to make something too broken... Eiryss.
