    Default Getting into Hordes

Been playing Warmachine for a bit now and I like it alot buy I must admit I can't help but think about Hordes. I play Cryx from WM and tend to run pretty infantry heavy. I would like to get a Hordes army that I can run Beast heavy. So far I'm thinkng about Legion or Troll Bloods. What would be the best caster out of any faction to run Beast heavy with and what would be the best faction to run Beast heavy with? any input would be appreciated!

Legion is better at running beast-heavy than Trolls are, Calandra is probably their only really beast oriented warlock.

That said, we're still in Field Test for MkII so there might be changes.

Right now if you want to test it out Absylonia is looking pretty good for beasts, but as dboeren pointed out, right now everything is pretty well in a flux state. But that might give you a little feel for it.

So it's looking like Legion is the way to go.

Yeah Legion is way better at running beast heavy or all beast lists than any of the other factions. I would say trolls come in a not too close second at the moment because doomie is actually pretty rad right now. But the majority of legions casters compliment beasts much better than infantry and the beasts are just awesome in general.

If you want to run Warbeast heavy, Trollbloods aren't really the option. Granted, you will run with less infantry than you are used to doing in Warmachine, but the Trollbloods are a hybrid faction (when played effectively). The high Fury ratings and low thresholds of their Warbeasts tend to require a mix. Many of their Warbeasts are slow too. This means your army will run half and half. This is based on my own experiences, bear in mind.

Skorne is also a hybrid army. It functions best with a mix of Warbeast and infantry, although it favors more Warbeasts a bit more than Trollbloods (i.e. it doesn't have to have the infantry if it doesn't want desire it).

The Legion can run entirely Warbeast and so can the Circle of Orboros. Both of these factions are strongest, in fact, with infantry in a soley support role. The Circle are closer to the Cryx in style of play, which means you would have less of a learning curve. I won't try to give you advice on the Legion. I understand them but there are far better, more experienced players here to help you with that one.

Legion looks cool, but I was told if I wanted to play something different then Cryx I should look to the trolls. Of course that was before I decided I wanted to run beast heavy. I do like the look of legion and its beasts though. What would be the best casters to run beast heavy with them?

I feel you can run beast heavy with trolls and with eDoomy you can have a couple of dires and Mulg and let loose i mean legion is cool but wouldnt you rather have a walking mountain that beats face?
besides youve already played them army with a dragon why not choose trolls?

I would like to have, say, better them half my points in beasts. If trolls can do that I would like to know how.

depends what points your playing, i play 15 points all beasts with Borka i field a Mauler, axer and impaler and he's only fury 5!
ok im not gona lie there are some infantry that you need to play but i am a beast guy myself and i would recomend for low fury beasts Blitzer as it makes a good shooty, bouncer to protect your 'lock not only that troll threshold went up in the field test update! so there has never been a better time to unleash the beast!

The casters to look to for Legion beast heavy would be pretty much anyone but the Lylyths and Rhyas. The better ones I would say are EThags, Vayl and Abby. Also I play Cryx and Legion and they both are dodgy and fragile but have very different play styles over all. Granted if you wanted a really really different style then go with trolls(which I also play) though as stated earlier Trolls work better as a mainly infantry force.
