Had a game last night vs. Legion (won through pure luck) and the biggest worry for me were his Striders + UA, who could have murdered my Black 13th (the only anti-stealth I had in the list). They have a ridiculous threat range (move 7, Pathfinder, 12" weapon range) hit hard (CRA) and are hard to get at (Stealth against range, Reform to keep them away from melee). So, two questions:
Does Cygnar have any hard counters to them - units, models, or effects that just shut them down? (I figure not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.)
Failing that, what are some soft counters? I ran a Lancer and Charger up to engage a couple of them, but that left most of the unit free to move away. A few things I thought of but did not have the ability to implement in the game:
Run a fast or Reach unit (or preferably a fast Reach unit) into them to engage - you probably won't be able to get a charge off, but tying them up in melee is probably good enough. Options for Cygnar: Storm Lances, Stormguard, Steelhead Halberdiers, Lancer, Firefly, Stormclad.
Throw AOEs at them and hope for a good scatter. Cygnaran options: Black 13th Mage Storm, Explosivo, Triumph, etc.
Counter the stealth, as detailed here. The tricky bit is getting to them in order to do it - they can stay at least a solid 15" away from units and still be hitting, with careful use of their range and the Reform ability. The best counter here seems to be Gun Mages + UA using Snipe shot - 20" threat range.
The Black 13th's Fire Beacon + some Long Gunner or Trencher CRAs would work well; the trick is to get Lynch close enough to toss out the Fire Beacon. With a 16" threat range it is doable but tricky. Snipe on the B13 would help.
