Default Major Jack Conversions - Post em up!

I popped into my LGS the other day was discussing various conversion and basing ideas Im banding around for my (one day soon I hope) Khador 'Enemy at the Gates' 50pts.

We started chatting about how there seems to be a lack of major jack conversion in the area, and then were kinda stumped to think of any we had seen online.

To give example of the scale we were talking about, I was musing about putting Khador jacks on to tracked mounts rather than legs to make them more tank like and more imposing.

Im the kinda of guy who looked at the GW Valkyrie when it came out, and converted one into a giant Hellicopter for Orks within 3 days of release!
(Forgeworld hated me - I turned 2 Tau Skyrays into a Barracuda and Remora lol)

So Im looking for examples and tales of heavy conversion work to see how feasible it is and what I can expect to encounter whilst doing it.

Plus, I LOVE major rebuilds - who doesnt!

I've done "major conversions" to jacks, but at the end of them, the jacks were still jacks, not helicopters or trains or mailboxes.

    So, yeah.

Oh man... I can't wait for the Khador Behemailbox. To deliver your mail, the mailman has to get through his bombardment and risks an AP freestrike against his mail-vehicle when he leaves!

I think most of the conversions for Warmachine end up being custom re-posing or scratch building existing 'jacks. I find I'm pretty satisfied with the jacks I get, and I want to make sure that my opponents recognize them for the pieces they are. So minor pose changes are usually the only thing I've done. I think if you sift through the Miniatures thread, you'll come across all sorts of examples of fantastic conversions.

I think a lot of people dont do major conversions like warjacks with tracks legs and other crazy out of control conversions because the game is very wysiwyg. The jack has to have the weapons on the cards in the right hands, etc. I'm not saying that keeps everyone in check, but it definitely makes it a little more tricky to do a really tricked out jack. I can think of a dozen or so radically altered jacks I've seen on here and at tournaments: the crab-legged death jack, the ghost cryx jacks are the only two I can recall on the spot.

I convert almost every model in my army. I have a tough time not converting tbh, but at the end of the day, most of the jacks are still jacks....except nightmare who is now a jill.

Ive done reposes and weapoin swaps, i custom made a folding chair for Drak MacBain, but ive never made a tracked jack... but it sounds sick.

    Here's a couple...

Beast 09 - Not a major conversion, but I like it....

    And a Deathjack free running...

    ...parkour if you're fancy.

I think the Mountain Dew machine was funniest, but thats just me....

I understand the need for wysiwyg, so not looking to alter arms or weapons (although I fancy building a custom Behemoth with twin Decimator saws instead of his fists).

Its the legs I dont like.... Given apparent mass of the jack, the little legs bug me.

Centering the body on a basic symmetrical tracked base chassis.... The imagery of it rolling over a wrecked Cryx jack just sticks in the mind, like a sequence from a steampunk Armoured Core....

Id love to be able to covert infantry models easier (mainly ATGM) but I think the jacks are really lovely kits for what they represent!

I know a guy who converted his Thunderhead into basically a hovering Tesla Drone. No arms/legs, just some antennea and the electric coils. I know he's posted it here before.

Pretty cool concept and all, but if I attempted it I'd just mess it up.

This is the closest I have gotten to a 'major' conversion on a jack:

Yeah, my paint job isn't the greatest, but it was fun to make.

Khador may have been my first, but Mercs keep me coming back for more.

I've done some leg-repositioning on my hammersmith. I hate the hunchback-pose the stock-version has. Same for my Vanguards.

And I'm gonna do a guardian (or fire of salvation) soon-ish - plastic kit with bits from the 'jack I want it to be to get it on par with the other plastics.

About the most I have done in one place was messing with all the arm positions on my 7 hammersmiths. I didnt want them to all be in the same pose.

    My completely custom Beast 09:

He's a juggernaut with Kodiak shoulders / smokestack, Beast 09 head and 100% scratch-built axe. Axe needs more detail, but it's a start...

Here is a WIP of a trophy I'm making for a Frankenstein event

Here is another for the same event. It has a piece from a warbeast or warjack of each of the 11 factions (Cygnar, Menoth, Khador, Cryx, Mercs, Retribution, Trolls, Circle, Skorne, Minions).

Here's an example of one from a couple years ago.
