Well, this guy's out now so how is he? I'm not playing my mercs until the field test is over for my trolls so I have his model but have not played him yet. What's the good, the bad, and the ugly on him from those of you who have tried him?

He's pretty nice. He kills models with upkeeps dead, he has a multi-fire weapon, goor mat and rat, and he only costs 2 points. His stats can be found online.
In my opinion PP has overcompensated some models in MK2 Hordes.
I am looking forward to using him against cygnar. I will finally get to make them pay for arcane shield on units.
I like the idea of him but I am yet to field him, from past experience with Orin mk1 using Lightning against units with upkeep it can be quite valueable. Something I am looking forward to trying is ranged assasination with eMagnus. Use a renegade to knock the caster and shoot them with solos after casting Calamity.
considering that I count dougal as the top merc solo I can't wait to run 2 of him
What are you waiting for then? the card's online and the mini can already be purchased..?
He comes with a card now. Mine did, at least...
Hi Guys
Noticed that you said his stats were online
Tried to find them but search don`t seem to find them so can someone direct me
Thanks
just search on Tabletop Gaming News for it. the stats for that, dannon and bull, and the basher are all on there somewhere.
You can buy him now with the card, he has been properly re-released. If you already have him Privateer had the rules up in one of the news letters.
I posted this on the rules forum but I was wondering does Harlen ignore the ARM bonus granted by cover if cover was granted by a spell?
cover grants defense....and no. even though its a spell that created it, it creates a game effect that is specific in how it works.
so any spells that create cover/concealment are not ignored.
They recently ruled on arcane assassin and bless that def and arm granted by core rules aren't ignored, even if it is a spell that is causing them the core rule to kick in.
Right now that pretty much only means that cover and concealment granted because of spells aren't ignored, but suggested it was a fairly broad ruling by the design team in case other circumstances later popped up.
So no, Harlan never ignores Cover wether granted by a spell or not.
I've gotten in a few games with him , i've found he dies to a stiff breeze but hes great at what he does. For just 2 points you get stealth and spell blocking with multi fire. Through trial and error i've also found that snipe will go a long long way to keeping him alive and getting him the aiming bonus he might need to him those tougher targets. The problem , in my eyes , was that at only 10 inches away from a model he only get his one volley and dies. A ranged unit with move 5 will just move up and shoot him , a melee unit with spd 6 and reach will charge. Even a melee unit with out reach can run to engage him. At 14 inches out a ranged unit would have to move 9 inches to get him close enough to fire at , not going to happen unless running , and a melee unit with out reach and movement 6 cant engage him even on a run. Its by far a perfect solution but it does let him to what he does best for longer and lets you get the most out of him. Dont underestimate his damage either. Hes more then capable of killing a light to med caster with upkeeps on them.

Being such a push over, I'm curious how good he would be behind unit of Shield Walled Precursor Knights?
Like any Merc he has his role and he plays it extremely well.
