    Default Minion Powah!

Hi folks! I haven't gotten to really post much on here, but my buddy Askew37 suggested I should post my shiny, newly-taken photographs of my Minion warlocks! Let me know what you guys think!

First is my Lord Carver, BMMD, Esq. III, whom I love dearly. I really liked the green-lacquered gold that Circle Orboros rocks, so I decided to try it with some purple instead.. pretty happy with it. I also thought his little trophy skull pile wasn't big enough, so I added a resin pile from a basing kit I had laying around. I'm also a sucker for painting ostentatious tiger fur!

I'm keeping the purple-glazed metal as kind of a theme to tie my two Minion forces together, so I carried it over to good ol' Bloody Barney as well. I really liked the ancient look for Barney, with the nearly albino lightness of his scales, so I stuck with it. Thinking about adding some more water effects resin to the gore dripping off his chin, but I don't want to overdo it either. I got a little less lazy with his base, opting instead to sculpt a few extra skulls out of ProCreate putty for him, and doing several layers of water effects over swampy moss and grass for his base.

There are a few more views of these two guys in my profile, and some older work of mine, if you care to take a gander.
Thanks for looking! Please let me know what you think; questions, comments and criticism are all appreciated! Now I just need to find the time to tackle the *rest* of my forces!

Easily my favorite Carver that I've seen. You've just made me commit to buying him. So... damn you?

Yay, thank you! I apologize to your wallet, but not to you - Carver is as much fun to play as he is to paint!

The blood on Barnabas' snout is awesome. Both models look excellent, but his snout sticks out as so awesome to me.

The blood dripping from barnabas's mouth is really cool. How did you get that effect?

I took a couple really thin strands of tall basing grass (the same stuff that's cluttered around his back) and cut them short. I mixed some water effects with blood-coloured paint, smeared it on his chin, and stuck the grass bits to it. It took some finagling to get it to sit the way I liked it, and even more to get a drop of water effects on the bottom.

I've been wondering this for a while what does BMMD stand for?

Also... looks good, only critical thing I could add is that the wash looks a bit heavy on carver's gold bits.

Models look amazing. Personally favoring the Barnabus...as I am an avid gator convert. Curious on a couple things though.

    1) The skin tone on Barnabus, debating doing albino gators for the warlocks, but you pulled off an almost albino still keeping the green tone. I'm intrigued on the colors and process you used here.
    2) The water effects...which brand did you use?

I still say BMMD stands for "Bacon.. MM Delicious!"

I appreciate the comments, all! I did a kind of mish mash of paints for his skin, wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but I was happy with it. I started with GW Foundation Knarloc Green, gradually adding Vallejo Dead Flesh. Once I worked up to full Dead Flesh, I started adding Bone White, and even a little Skull White. I think painting him in the bone colour and giving him a very light olive green wash probably would get similar results.

As for the water effects, I used Woodland Scenics' big ol bottle of paint-on resin. I've tried Vallejo's sculptable stuff, but I kind of like the Scenics.. you see what you're going to get right away.
