Default A question about paints and TSA scanners

I'm a trouble-maker at heart, so naturally, I think that this is a good idea:

Except for the part about lead-based paint. So, my question is, would metallic paints work for this? Similarly, would this cause problems with the metal detector?

I was thinking about something similar. Perhaps a layer of some metal foil in a shirt?

Or you know, opt out of the scanner and make them pat you down in a kilt.

First, there are no good ideas in CAD.

Second, you really think that pissing off people that can legitimately delay and keep you from having even an OK experience at the airport is a great idea?

You would be better off using multiple layers of liquid latex on your CLOTHING. If the point is to broadcast something without being suspicious, and of course being a law abiding citizen, but prone to civil disobiedience, the idea would be to cause an "anamoly" that would be quickly found, and just as quickly dismissed. I for one will be going with minature's flash and filings spelled out to say "secret message is secret" adhered to the inside of the shirt with watered down Elmer's. If find that also works well on flock and rocks for basing, too.

Lead paint doesn't contain lead in metal form, and therefore would not show any better than regular paint in a metal detector. Likewise, most metallic paints do not contain metal at all (the metallic sheen is due to mica flakes). A notable exception is the Vallejo Liquid Gold range of alcohol-based metallic colors, or you can buy your own pigments (not usually cheap) and medium.

Since the TSA pictures do seem to highlight metallic things only, I think it's unlikely you'll get the message through with paint. Unless you go out of your way to get (or make) paints with actual metal flakes in them.

You could use magnetic paint, that should have enough ferrous metal in it to do the trick....If you're worried about it on your skin, they have dip/paint on latex gloves (Lowe's, HOme Depot, etc) that will protect your skin...
